Kodi Burns top-end speed

This comment was made about an Evan Woodberry column on al.com about AU QB's.

Kodi Burns is quick on his feet but Rodriguez didnt recruit him while at west va. He doesnt have awesome top end speed but is quick enough to make some nice short runs. Most of the top spread QBs(dual Qbs) who are lighning fast and can throw have committed to LSU, Michigan, and West Va. Cotton is a good prospect but isnt developed yet. The one thing about Burns is his height not allowing him to be able to throw over tall d-linemen. He has mostly ran or gave it to rbs...so it will be a test for him to be able to see the field well. This is according to scouting reports.

Kodi Burns seems pretty fast to me. However, does anybody know his 40 time? Or if he competed in track in HS? I don't see how someone could be that quick and not have good top-end speed.

Also, Eric Zeir was an incredible passer at Georgia and was 5'11 or so.

I didn't know that Jason Campbell had a top speed until I seen him scramble for the Redskins, and was like wogh where did that come from. My point is that even though auburn is going to a spread option offense, you won't be seeing him running full speed every play. We will use him to trick the option and get the ball to other players. So as long as he has quick feet and nifty moves that is where his talent will lie.

He's not the fastest guy in the open field, but he's plenty fast enough. If he breaks one, he wont be getting caught from behind. He's such a great runner though - a great combination of speed, quickness, vision, and toughness. Only problem is he's our quarterback. I think his passing is coming along nicely, but there should be no worries about how he runs.

I like how the poster tried to say KB must not be fast because Rich Rod didn't recruit him. That and the fact that his post is a grammatical nightmare tells me this guy doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

Good thing he's not running a version of the spread that relies on the run and doesn't pass very well or often.

The needs of WVU at QB are not the needs of Auburn at QB.

Though he's not as fast, Burns reminds me of Tommy Frazier from Nebraska in his running style. Burns is also built like Frazier.

Tommy Frazier was the most dominant player I saw on any team in the 90s. I won't compare Kodi Burns to Frazier until I hear at least one opposing fan openly accept that Burns accounts for 25+ points before the game is even started. Frazier was ridiculous.

As for this thread, Kodi looks faster than Jason, and Jason was plenty fast for a QB. Kodi won't (and shouldn't ever be) our primary ball carrier so it doesn't matter if he has world class speed. I'll tak 6-8 yards on the keeper every single time, and you don't need a 4.4 to get that.

Stat is dead on! I think he looks like Fraizer too!

If the success of your offense is predicated on the ability of your quarterback to outrun the secondary, then your offense has some serious problems.
