Yeah, no kidding.....from what I've been told is that he is Better than Chris was at this point in his career....I've also heard that he has a Nasty Streak about him, sorta like a "Little Ball Of Hate" Streak about him.

No offense, but I wouldn't crow about a guy who's other offers were from South Alabama, UAB, Southern Miss, and La Tech.

You beat us out for a few national top 200 players in Mobile...then come talk to me. As it stands, you have beaten us out for one player in Mobile: Terrence Coleman. We've got two from the Mobile area and one is a Rivals 100 guy, another a Rivals 250 guy. And AU offered every one of our current commits except for Kellen Williams...who has plenty of other offers.

A couple of weeks ago you started a thread trashing one of our guys because of his offer list...a few weeks later you guys sign a guy who has offers from South, UAB, S Miss, and La Tech...and you are crowing like you guys just signed 8 top 100 guys.

I don't have a problem with you guys getting excited about your verbals. But maybe next time keep the hypocritical talk to a minimum....

There was other teams that were recruiting him and one was uat, but as uat found out...JE was an Auburn Man. That might be one of the few reasons why other bigger named programs haven't offered.

Thanks for putting us in our place BG. We'll just go back to our sad state of depression since six happened.

I'm sure you wouldn't crow about that, but when I look back and remember Sen'Derrick Marks didn't have another SEC offer... I good with that. We'll just keep signing these guys and keep whipping your butts. You guys can keep crowing about recruiting all you want.

Are you gonna say that for every recruit you get that doesn't have Bama listed as an offer?

I never said he wouldn't be good. I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy. We get a thread started and our team trashed because we took a verbal from a guy with an unimpressive offer list...you get one with a less impressive offer list...and the guy is a worldbeater?

Once again, you're on a AU board.

I agree in principle with the idea that it's hypocritical to belittle another team's recruits with offers from lesser schools while overly praising one's own with similar offers. I'm not interested wasting my time in discussing specific posts from specific posters, however...

Back to J. Evans, per the Mobile Press-Register:

http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/press-reg....xml&coll=3

Jonathan Evans also had offers from South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Louisiana Tech, UAB and others. He had interest from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Tennessee, according to Rivals.com, which reported his commitment.

...

Evans had 104 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions and 10 forced fumbles for the Blount Leopards in 2007.

104 tackles, 5 sacks,...10 forced fumbles!

Auburn didn't offer scholarships to either Darrius McKeller or Kellen Williams. Most Auburn message boards reported that Auburn stopped recruiting AJ McCarron after Tony Franklin became Auburn's offensive coordinator.

According to most sources, Bammer offered scholarship to Jomantay Pilson, Brandon Heavens, and Terrance Coleman. I am pretty sure that Nick Fairley received a scholarship offer from Bammer when he came out of high school. Phillip Lutzenkirchen received scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida State, and Georgia Tech among others.

Auburn and Bammer both have 3 players ranked in scouts list of the top 300 players in the country. Eltoro Freeman was ranked in scouts top 300 list when he came out of high school.

What is your point? Like usual, you probably don't have one.

When it comes to comparing offer lists, I think its a little too early in the process to do so. Someone like Evans is clearly a solid 3* type of player, but he is on the small side for his position. For a school like UAB, So. Miss, he's a no brainer; offer him a scholly and perhaps get lucky because they were in there first. For a top tier SEC school, he's definitely on their radar, but not necessarily an automatic offer. The schools probably want to see how he performs in their summer camps and do a little more due-dilligence.

Now, because Evans's brother is already at Auburn, he's going to get a little more attention. The coaches know the family, his background, work ethic, etc. His offer comes a little earlier because Auburn knows the intangibles, something other schools just don't have the luxury with. With those combinations, why would bama waste their time on Evans?

Now, come Dec and Jan, checking out offer lists does offer some merit. But just because someone doesn't have a strong list, doesn't mean the kid can't play.

And you bama people who come on here, grow some skin. You knew what you were in for the day you received your profile.

Yeah, whether it's our recruits or Bama's or anyone else's, I can't understand what the hype is over offers made prior to kids even playing their senior seasons. Kids can get injured, have breakout seasons, academic issues, just plain subpar seasons etc. Plus, this is the time when young guys can really hit a growth spurt. Would Evans be more highly touted at 220? Sure he would.

If McCarron gets arm problems or pops a hammy or ACL, is Bama going to back off? Maybe. It's just weird to me to be comparing offers after a kids' junior year.

That definitely plays a factor. Chris Evans has been a huge surprise and was our best linebacker in several games last season. Jonathan Evans is considerably better at the same age coming out of HS. I asked yesterday and was told that if Jonathan works as hard and progresses like his brother did that he would be an All-SEC caliber player, because comparing the two as recruits there is really no question that Jonathan is significantly better.

Thats the nature of recruiting these days...unfortunately. With all these camps and stuff kids are getting offered earlier and earlier because schools are hedging against other schools/prospects etc.

By the end of the Junior year, most of these kids already have all the offers they are gonna get. It's really weird.

This is why for the most part, I stay out of here and hang out in the Political forum. There is just way too much arguing in here. :(

Hi, when you can actually beat our team (or any other team worthy of relevance in CFB) then I think maybe you won't sound like such an idiot, until then feel free to cream your pants about how good saban recruits based off of recruiting magazines, he's still 2-4 against Tubs, and maybe one day Bama with all of these recruits will be able to bridge the talent gap that kept them from beating ULM.
