Tigermike 3,661
I'll bite. I'm a sucker for a chance at seeing history. You did in fact see history. By finishing last, Big Brown became the first horse with a chance to win the Triple Crown to actually finish last in the Belmont Stakes. Well I did watch it and it was obvious that Big Brown did not have his best day at the track. I guess that cracked hoof took a little more out of him than everyone thought. SLAG-91 1,604
The Belmont has to have some of the wildest variations in TV ratings...the only time I even consider watching the Belmont is when there is an opportunity for a Triple Crown to be won. AURaptor 1,137
A stretch, to be sure, but weren't there some folks who were trying to draw a comparison between Big Brown and Eight Belles back at the Kentucky Derby to the race between Barack and Hillary ? If things go as they're looking to, horse racing might be a truer indicator to the White House than we imagined!

Only because HRC said to "bet on the filly."
tiger88 934
It just isn't equal with the way so many horses sit out the preakness if they lose the derby. three races in 5 weeks is too much for one horse if he is racing against rested horses. Well I did watch it and it was obvious that Big Brown did not have his best day at the track. I guess that cracked hoof took a little more out of him than everyone thought. The commentators eluded to the fact (before the race and afterwards I think) that b/c of the cracked hoof that he wasn't training like normal. I've been around horses my whole life and when one has a messed up hoof it tends to hamper their performance. Not saying that is an excuse but it very well could have been a factor.
