By his own definition, the word spread refers to "spreading" the ball around to a variety of players.

During this past season, Troy's offense on an average, had 6 different players to run the ball and 10 to catch it per game.

Auburn under Al Borges in 2007, averaged 5 runners and 7 receivers to touch the ball per game.

Against opponents with a winning record, Troy averaged 5 runners and 11 receivers to touch the ball per game and Auburn averaged 5 runners and 6 receivers.

Auburn and Troy played three common opponents this season. Troy averaged 5 runners and 11 receivers to touch the ball in those 3 games and AU averaged 5 runners and 7 receivers.

Against Clemson, Auburn had 5 different runners and 10 differernt receivers to touch the ball. The ten players to catch at least 1 ball was Auburn's highest output of the season in terms of spreading the ball around.

The lowest number of receivers to touch the ball in one ball game was 6 for Troy and it happened only 1 time. Auburn had 6 games during the 12 game regular season where only 6 players or less caught a pass. The season low for Auburn was 4 against LSU.
