I'm not sure how I feel about that. I like to take advantage of squinting through the early game to get me sharp for the rest of the day. It just won't be the same without a blurry score at the top of the screen.

Who can honestly say they thought this would occur before the BCS would have a real solution to determining a National Champion? What's next? Reggie Bush and USC are found guilty?

Raycom - about freaking time - thanks for purchasing JP/LF.

AcctTiger - thanks for the links. That CBS article had me laughing my a$$ off

This is going to be very interesting to see.

I think we all like this comment:

9. Alabama fans without televisions showing up at Home Depot to watch the game because they heard Raycom was now in HD. If I worked at Home Depot I'd be insuring against the resulting riots right now.

Claynation, and Dixieland Delight, is the is that perfect mix of providing the news with absolute hilarity.

you mean they weren't already in HD ? wow that is good news. I thought the poor picture quality and nonsense verbage were the result of some combination of my old age and friday night drinks causing one hell of a hang over!! :)

I will beleive it when I see it. They have the worst coverage ever. Might as well listen to it on the radio.

Nope, it is still better then radio, though not much better. Most of us remember listening to a whole undefeated season on the radio and it sucked.

Boonan, what is 21 in B'ham? Our local Fox station, channel 54, carries those games here in the Huntsville metro area. Luckily Charter carries that Fox station in HD also.

Thats nice but it won't improve the quality of the commentary.

Ding, Ding, Ding. I think the world is ending as we know it now that Raycome is going HD with the 11:30 SEC football game. What next? The earth starts to heat up....oh wait.

It is the CW channel I think. Not any of the major networks in any event and doesn't have an HD presence.

Can you not get those stations in HD over the air? If not then the station might not have an HD output, and it has nothing to do with your cable.

Yeah, the CW network in this area is not offered in HD by Charter either. However, I do know they broadcast in HD over the air with some of their prime time programming.

WTTO 21 in B'ham is offered in HD from Time Warner Cable here in Cullman. Problem is, on the HD channel nothing is ever in HD. I don't know if they can't broadcast in HD or if nothing they broadcast is filmed using HD cameras. Either way, I am excited about this because I will now be able to see HD football games on ESPN, ESPN2 and WTTO21-HD. Now if Time Warner Cable would get off their tails and get CBS in HD, I'd be watching nearly all the SEC games on HD.

..and us really old folks remember when there was only one (possibly two on a rare double header) college football game, period, on broadcast television per Saturday...and that was only occasionally an SEC team, much less AU. But hey, it gave us more time for our mastodon hunts.

Easy Solution: Get an "Over-the-Air" Digital/HD Antenna. I have a TERK

Indoor antennas are relatively weak compared to some of the outdoor long-range mounted ones, however since I am not that far from the broadcast stations I mounted my antenna in the attic to improve the reception.....I get about 12-15 Digital/HD channels, including all 4 major networks in HD. Here is a link that gives you info on what channels you can expect to pick up at your home....relative to the type of antenna you choose..... http://www.terrestrial-digital.com/antenna...mendations.html

I considered that at one time. After researching everything it was obvious I live far enough out in the sticks that I would have to have a huge outdoor tower/ antenna setup with an amplifier. No problem for me, but my wife dont want that in the yard of our new house. Hopefully Time Warner Cable will make good on their promises and we will be getting HD locals soon! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

reasons why people in north alabama won't benefit from this:

1. Fox 54 (which carries the LF games) isn't in HD

2. We still have to put up with the Daves

alright... I guess the last one applies to everybody <_<
