STARRRSSSSS!!!

Recommended Posts

Rivals has starting posting stars. They're not all done yet, but they've got about half of ours up.

I know I'm kind of contradicting myself here, because I try not to get hung up on them, but they've got Terrence Coleman as a 3 star. That guy is probably the best DT in the state of Alabama. Unbelievable.

Well, he has already committed. It saves them the hassle of having to de-mote him later.

Philip Lutzenkirchen, Jamontay Pilson, Rodney Scott = All 4 stars....All ranked 5.8

Terrence Coleman, Raymond Cotton, Harris Gaston, Brandon Heavens = All 3 stars....All ranked 5.7

Johnathan Evans = 3 star.....Ranked 5.6

Nick Fairley, Eltoro Freeman, Wilfred Journet = NR.....JUCO Rankings will be released closer to the Fall

A tenth of a point seperates virtually every player we have with the exception of Evans.....and he is only 2 tenths.....Just another reason I don't put much stock in the "STARS" system!

FWIW, the Juco guys were originally in the 2007 recruiting class. Eltoro was a high 4 star and Journet and Fairley were 3 stars.

This is a good thread in which to bring up a question that's been on my mind:

With juniors/rising seniors getting early rankings--do their "stars" general go up or down during the course of their senior season? Is there any overall trend or rule-of-thumb?

I'm not sure in my own mind how much stars mean anyway. It's nice to have some way of evaluating commitments, but sometimes I thnk they're only a means for recruiting magazines/paysites to sell their product.

They will be re-ranked as a JUCO players for the 2009 recruiting rankings. Good performances in JUCO usually leads to a higher ranking (ie: Raven Gray was originally a 4* in the 06 recruiting class....He was a 5* JUCO player in the 08 recruiting class).....So.....i could see Eltoro up to a 5* and Journet/Fairley up to 4* when the 09 JUCO rankings come out.......
