I just got the current issue of ESPN the Magazine.

That man is a blow hard and I would rather listen to Eli Gold talk about squirrel mating rituals than listen to him yell about the black man being kept down.

Guess what Stephen A. Smith wrote about!

:puke:

Give us more, I don't get that magazine anymore. Why can't these reporters leave well enough alone?

Typical trash. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but was one-sided nonsense. He said he wasn't going to focus on Auburn, and then wrote 18 lines of text comparing GC and TG. The thing is, all he said about GC was his record at Iowa St and that the program was in decline. One sentence. On Gill, he mentioned his success at Buffalo compared to the seasons before he got there, then delved into his playing career and his record with Nebraska, and that he learned from Tom Osborne about running a football program, and summed it up with something like "I don't care what you think Auburn, those are what we call credentials.

No mention of GC winning 26 straight games, an SEC championship, Big 12 championship, and MNC, tutelage from Kiffin, and HC experience in a BCS conference. No mention of recruiting ties in the Southeast.

Also no mention or kudos given to Auburn for interviewing multiple minority candidates. Basically we hired the white guy because we hate black guys.

There was some Rosa Parks references and a call for CB to keep running his mouth until someone turns college football around. Oh, and he used the phrase wannabe, instead of wants to be, which in itself is derogatory and never should have passed edit. Oh, and he said that Auburn clearly made the wrong choice.

My problem with Stephen A Smith is this is something like his 3rd race related article in the past 4 issues or so (I throw them out when I finish so I can't look it up) including the horrid piece of trash "Why Black men don't play fantasy football" which was insulting to read and had the premise that black males are men of action and can't be bothered with something as silly as pretending to manage an NFL team, instead they are out doing stuff, like football. The 25% share of my long-standing league who are black didn't care for it much. Oh, and they are men of action, former college athletes, and they love fantasy football.

ESPN the Mag is trash anyhow and I'm canceling. I only got it because it was 7 bucks a year and I needed Insider for my FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE draft!!!

When it comes to the NBA or the Philadelphia Eagles, Stephen A. Smith is somewhat relevant. When it comes to college football, he is a race baiter that doesn't know his @**hole from his elbow. End of story.

I'M STEPHEN A SMITH AND I TALK LOUD BECAUSE EVERYTHING I SAY IS IMPORTANT!

Did the article mention his cheese doodle eating habits?

Thanks for the information, about what I figured. Why doesn't anyone talk about Tennesse or these other schools (Miss. State too) who didn't even interview a black candidate Everything has to be turned into a racial issue these days and I am tired of it. Just hire who you think is best, don't worry about their race, if they are good, they are good. Maybe TG didn't even want to come here after all, who would with the Butt in all the time Trustees we have. I appreciate the synopsis. I hope we have a great season so we can tell them to shove it next time they bad mouth Auburn. :roflol:

I cancelled a while back, and the only way you're able to is by finding some obscure phone number on the ESPN website, while doing it they ask you why you're cancelling, if any of you have subscriptions and would like to cancel because of this that may be the only thing that will send a message to ESPN to stop grandstanding over a non-issue and put Mr. Stephen A. Smith under some pressure to shut his mouth over issues where he doesn't have the whole facts or refuses to recognize them.

Stephen A is a standup guy. I'm sure, in the next issue of ESPN The Magazine, he'll write about how Charles Barkley was out looking to get his flute tooted instead of being at home with his family...
