Kevin Hart Story

That is sssooo sad. Almost heartbreaking. But the kid lied and was a academic no-show. He ultimately got exactly what he worked for and deserved.

I would imagine his HS was small, which is why I find it hard to believe his HFC was not informed of Kevin's D average. Also makes you wonder why his parents did not question him about his SAT's unless he lied to them about taking them.

We would have to make a list of screw-ups by adults in this kid's life. Why didnt anyone catch on is a mystery.

I don't really feel sorry for him. He knew what he was doing. He set up the announcement event, bought the hats to put on, and continued to lie after being confronted with it. Even at the end of the story, when asked about playing D1, he didnt respond with a 'i just want to prove people right', he went with a 'i can still play D1 ball'. NO YOU CAN'T, NOW LIVE YOUR LIFE AND MOVE ON.

I get that the argument its not like he killed someone, but it's not like he was sent to jail. He did something dumb, but he was the one who made it a big situation.

I don't feel sorry for him either, it's actually really pathetic. He absolutely knew what he was doing and got caught in a lie. The lie snowballed and he kept riding the avalanche.

I am confused about why his parents weren't aware of his grades; you'd of thouth the school would be in contact with the parents in this case. As far as the recruiting process and SAT/ACT...I'm not sure if his parents had any idea what to expect. Neither of my parents went to college and had no idea what it took to get accepted. I had to handle it all by myself (probably why I ended up at AU  ) so I can see where his parents might have been coming from.

He was/is a kid. A little grace was all we have to offer someone in his situation. We can all use a little grace from time to time. He will likely never live this down. I wonder what some of us would think if we had to pay for a mistake we made at age 17-18 for the rest of our lives.

Well-stated. I'd love to have a few do-overs for things I did in my thirties....much less when I was a teenager.

Sounds like he desperately needed some adult supervision along the way.
