Who will the first big time recruit

Alright, I am all about the recruiting talk surrounding the hirings, but I would like to see the walk. Who is going to be our "Julio/Bart Scott" equivalent this year or should we expect this year is to be a wash and next year to be our Saban-esque recruiting class?

For all the recruiting talk, there hasn't been much progress made...I think losing Marks and Powers are a couple steps back for the program, we need some recruiting progress to be made fast to counter those losses...

Chizik has already signed two. JUCO players Nick Fairly and Eltoro Freeman were both heavily courted by The $abans, as well as several other schools. Getting them to keep their commitments and sign with Auburn early so that they counted on last year's limit was HUGE!

As for some others, there is still a month before signing day and the new staff has hardly had time to unpack. Let's give them adequate time to make some visits.

Here's my hope list although I don't claim it to be realistic.

Tana Patrick

Kendall Kelly

Jason Pierre Paul

David Conner

D.J. Shakleford - Previously committed to UT

Petey Smith

Raymond Cotton

Brandon Moore

Jared Wheeler

Clint Moseley, QB from LeRoy

5 star WR from Louisiana

The exciting part of all this is.................nobody knows what this staff is capable of recruiting. I do feel that they WILL snag some big time players here at the last.

The most likely seems for Cotton to recommit, although CGM appears to have his eyes on other QB targets. Petey Smith is also one of the more realistic ones on the list.

Moore is down to bammer and FLA. Look for him to go to Bama. I think your list is pretty solid with the exception of Kelly and Patrick. We will be lucky to even get one of the two. Also CGM said he will only take one QB this class so look for Moseley or Cotton but not both.

I honestly think the coaches are more interested in Moseley then Cotton, and perhaps for good reason, Cotton just seems like a big time project player and Moseley may be ready to play right away.

I think Cotton's dad burned any bridge that may have been left. We already went through that "Daddy" scene with a basketball player a few years ago. He's at FSU now.

If any of the new staff has even approached Cotton, it has not been publicized. Maybe Maryland or Arky wants him, but I don't think Auburn does.

Coach Malzahn and Coach Willis will have an In-Home visit with the Cottons tonight.

On that list, add:

Tyrik Rollison QB/Ath

Jamar Travis DT

Shad Beaver QB

Fletcher Cox DE

Bryce Brown RB

Louisiana WR is Rueben Randle

That shouldn't be a factor. Virtually every QB recruit in the SEC will be a project, waiting 2-3 years before he starts anyway. It's VERY rare for somebody to step in and have success as a true Frosh QB in the SEC.
