Those comments under that article made for a pretty good mid-day laugh, thanks!

This one is my favorite:

I predict Ingram will be a Heisman candidate at some point if he continues to work hard and improve, so don't worry too much guys.

He's a good ball player. Saying he'll be at some point in the running isn't unlikely. As much as we run the ball, he'll get plenty of chances.

Bad call--I don't think he's going to go high enough to warrant this. Coming back and having a stellar season his senior year would've bolstered his status. Thanks for finishing the decline of the Alabama offense though, Glenn.

Ingram hasn't signed yet......Just a point of interest.

You mean Richardson?

Yeah, I think he just got his names mixed up.

Mark Ingram played this year, number 22.

Trent Richardson is the back from Florida likely to sign with Alabama.

No slight at Coffee, but does he even project to the NFL? I've always thought of him as being a nice player with a big heart but not really pro talent.

I think he does. He plays hard and hit a hole bigger than he is. Though he's only 200lbs, be plays way larger. Whether or not it works in the NFL is another story. He'll easily make a squad.

I read somewhere that he said his projection was the mid rounds, but wouldnt surprise me to see him drop some.

This is actually a pretty smart move. Coffee won't look better next year b/c he won't be running behind a dominant line next year. Ask Kenny Irons how much "Future All-Pro" offensive tackles matter in: 1) keeping you healthy, and 2) making you look good. Coffee is basically pulling a Costanza and leaving at a high point. It was only going to get tougher for him next year.

If I'm a marginal talent that churns out a career year due to having a GREAT line and a senior QB, I walk away with the rest of those guys. Coming back just means my marginal talent is going to show.

I agree totally. Plus, if Upchurch is healthy all year and Richardson inks with Bama...Coffee would get fewer carries than he did in the 08 campaign.

Sure, he'd still be the feature back, but fewer carries would be on tap.

When you finish the season averaging 6.1 ypc and close to 1400 yards, you are a good back. He didnt get a lot of pub, but put those numbers on any other running back and he's a 1st round pick.

I disagree on that last point. I don't think the stats alone warrant drafting a RB in the first round. Those are certainly great stats, and I'm not trying to downplay them. BUT, 6.1 and 1400 are only enough to land you in the first round if you can perform well in camps. Coffee simply doesn't have the "hype" and will have to generate it himself.

Coffee will go in the draft. He'll probably be a first-day kinda guy based on this year. However, the last few years (where he never established himself as a big-time player) will hurt him.

It's smart to jump ship now. Go out on top, and get the money while the "gettin's still good."

As heard on the radio here in Auburn, "When Glenn Coffee goes pro, he'll owe 5% of his starting salary to his agent, and 10% to Andre Smith."
