Why in the world wouldn't

want to come to a school where they could become instant starters and stars rather than fade into the long depth chart at Bammer or other schools. They could possibly become marquee names and contribute as Freshman. It boggles my mind to see such talent leaning to other schools while the opportunity for instant stardom and contribution is right in front of their eyes. I suppose it's the glint in Saban's eyes that blinds them. I still have hopes some of them will see the rationale for choosing Auburn.

5-7. multiple offensive and defenisve coordinators in the not-so-distant past

bammer has already had multiple coordinators under saban and a 6-6 with a loss to la monroe in the not so distant past ....its all the past what else you got? In fact I will say right now that they may have the perceived better coach but we have a better staff and it isn't full yet.

Every player this day and time wants to play and play NOW! Auburn offers this opportunity to all three due to the attrition and shortage at those positions. I say go after all three and never give up Chizik. Lets give Saban a run for his money! (pardon the pun)

Using your logic, they should all go to Mississippi State or Arkansas or Baylor or whatnot.

And wasn't everyone's logic last year "why would any recruit go to Bama and be part of a 6 game losing streak." We supposedly (I never bought it) had far superior talent to Bama. So I guess that's why others chose Bama?

Kids are going to chose a school for whatever reason. Our depth chart or our record or whatever isn't really a significant factor to every kid. There are different factors for different kids. And there is usually more than one factor.

CGC has a fine line to walk with recruits this year between playing opportunity and relationships (or lack their of). His ability to navigate these waters will be the determining factor of the success or failure of this class.

I believe I read today that CGC said recruiting was all about relationships and opportunity and since this year he was getting into it so late in the game, relationships couldn't be established so he was going to focus on selling opportunity.

Any additional recruit we get this year will be influenced by a "play now" pitch. I don't know how successful it is going to be. I'm tempering my excitement. If we get some to come, great. If not, the class we currently have isn't bad so we'll be alright.

Next year's class will be interesting because the staff will have a chance to develop relationships with the kids.
