Daphne quarterback Robert Cooper is visiting UAB this weekend, but he told The News today that he received an offer from Auburn "a few days ago." Cooper plans to make an official visit to Auburn Jan. 23.

He said he is not ready to make a decision on a college choice. The Birmingham News has not yet confirmed the offer.

A one-year starter at Daphne - he backed up as a junior while starting on defense - the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Cooper is rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com.

UAB had been considered the favorite for Cooper, who has also received interest from Louisville.

Qualifying academically won't be a problem for Cooper, regardless of where he goes. He has a 3.5 GPA and scored a 27 on his ACT.

For more details, read The Birmingham News Saturday.

When you play for Coach Trooper, you catch the ball. Don't make him get out the bolt cutters. B)
