Rocker recruits the area for Ole Miss. that I coach in and I've had the oppurtunity to meet and talk a good bit with him. Great guy and very knowledgeable coach. The first time I met him, he found out I was an Auburn fan and his response was, "Well War Damn Eagle then!" I would like to see how much our coaches total salary compares w/ CTT from last year. I bet they'll be closer than most people think. I am asking becuase I simply do not know. Is he known for developing players or recruiting well or just for being a great player during the 80's? I will trust you guys if you say he is a great coach, I just have not watched his coaching career closely enough? He is about on the level of Don Dunn as both a coach and as a recruiter. In comparison to Spencer from OKState who was also a candidate he is stronger on the field by a good margin but he is a lesser recruiter (Spencer has a ton of connections in Georgia). I would be excited about him coming back to coach at AU. As a plus he is a good recruiter and knows the Atlanta area and is well known in and around Atlanta. He could be a big PLUS for AU. I prefer stronger on the field. As an Auburn man, I suspect it is easier for him to "sell" as a recruiter. And if recruiting is a priority for Chizik, I suspect it will be for all his coaches. I would rather our line coaches be better at coaching than recruiting. Games are won and lost in the trenches. Now if we can get a big time OL coach I would say this staff would have to be a total homerun. What names are we hearing for OL? I hate to mention this one because I cannot stand the man, but the Great Pumpkin is a fantastic OL coach, plus he could make Rocker look thinner. Sorry to the dunn fans...but tracy is a better on field coach. This info came from an insider within the program that would know....Dunn is a very good coach and was pretty underrated, meanwhile, Rocker has kind of been overhyped a bit due to his legacy as an AU player.
