Pocket PC

I have had a Treo 650 for a few years now (through my employer) and had to get rid of it. It was on Sprint and I just couldn't take the craptastic service anymore. I had options of a couple of Blackberry versions and the Verizon Saga by Samsung. I chose the Saga and love it so far. I have only had it for 2 days now.

Anyone have one of these and have an opinion on it? Anything I should know?

I don't have one, but these guys usually do really good reviews and have some good inoformation, http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/samsun...l?tag=mncol;lst

I actually looked at that before I chose this. Again, I've only had it two days but so far I love it.

OK, the phone ain't all that great. I liked the ease of use and the feel of it. I liked most things about it. But I had to get rid of it.

One reason was the battery would last about 4 hours MAX if I made no calls and didn't check email. That was the extended life battery.

Another thing I hated about it was having to shut it completely off every few days to either unfreeze it or get it to re-sync. It was a true Windows machine.

Finally, and the biggest reason I had to dump it was it began sending random emails within the network. It would combine multiple emails into one and send them to people w/i the company that had nothing to do with anything in any of the emails. That sounds like a virus or something but I can't have my machine sending sensitive information to random people. I don't think any went to any one outside of my company - but who knows?

So I went to a Blackberry. I didn't get to choose what which model and was sent a Blackberry Storm. I like it so far. I do miss having actual buttons but I think I will live.

Bottom Line: Don't buy a Samsung Saga with Verizon.

The original Blackberry Storm was a mess from a software standpoint, but I've heard a couple of software updates have helped it a good bit. I still think Blackberry is best when they are in their comfort zone: physical keyboard oriented operating system.

I wanted the Curve for the full "QWERTY" keyboard but I didn't get to choose. I like the Storm, so far. I've only had it since Wednesday of last week.

Odd that corporate would force you into the most experimental Blackberry device instead of the tried and true ones.

I am assuming it is a case of which phone the carrier is giving away free.

Maybe they're giving your company that phone for free, but that thing is normally $200 with a 2-year contract. The Curve on the other hand is normally $169 but is only $99 if you do everything online.

Fixed that for ya! i've got a Verizon pocket PC phone that I have had to live with for 2 years. I HATE IT! Running any application on the blasted thing sucks the life out of the battery. "Accidentally" dropped a hammer on the original one I owned hoping to be able to upgrade, but the bastages sent me the same phone. Even the new one fresh out of the box wouldn't hold a charge, especially if using wifi. I just haven't had the money to upgrade the phone to a Storm or what I would really like to do is switch to AT&T and get the iPhone. Stupid contracts!!
