Todays political society and cultural shift has brought down the self-preserving, self relying mantra of the people of this country. We are now being told that government is the only hope for prosperity, that the legal system is for your suing pleasure, and no one can escape the wrath of suit no matter how unrealistic it is (McDonalds coffee for example). We are told that government has to oversee everything, that even though the government has a very poor track record regarding social equality, we must cast history aside and take it for what it is.

I am ashamed of the people who lead this country. I am even more ashamed of those who think this type of leadership is the way for our future. When will the people of this nation rise up and take back what is OURS!!!!

autigeremt: TigerHeat is right. Never. I don't mean to bust your bubble on that, I wish people would take some responsibility as you do, just stating what I think. It is pretty sad when no one wants to do for themselves and depends on the helping hand of someone else, in most cases, sadly, people think that the Federal Government is the answer. The weaker people become the more the government can intrude on our lives. I have thought for quite sometime now that people are getting worse. It is no longer the days when someone owned up for their actions and suffered the consequences for those actions. As long as there is a place or person to point a finger at, it will continue to be that way. The ME, ME, ME, generation is sad. It truly is.

Our Freedom is only as good as the ability to think on our own, and control our own destiny to a degree. Yes, oportunity is there, but the window is closing more and more each day. At what point do we actually own anything anymore?

We never own a thing. Our homes may be paid off, but the property taxes continue. If you don't pay, you lose it. For many, your car may be paid for, but if you don't pay property taxes....you lose the ability to drive it, and they place a tax lein on you. If you work for government, you get paid with tax revenue....but you continue to pay income taxes on.......income tax revenue.

Just as AUtiger one states, "The weaker people become the more the government can intrude on our lives. I have thought for quite sometime now that people are getting worse. It is no longer the days when someone owned up for their actions and suffered the consequences for those actions. As long as there is a place or person to point a finger at, it will continue to be that way. The ME, ME, ME, generation is sad. It truly is."

I'm just old school when it comes to these things, and I wish for the days of old when people actually took ownership of their own actions.
