Failed takeoff...aircraft currently submerged in icy river w/ rescue mission ongoing. More details to come...

I just spoke with a coworker who was on the flight...said he was "cold and wet but ok"...that's all I know for now..he couldn't talk long. Will keep every one posted.

Thankfully your coworker was okay. Reading reports now that says maybe all passengers have survived the crash (quoted from one of the passengers)

My coworker quoted in an article...

Passenger John Howell was thinking of his family as the water rose around him. He was within sight of lower Manhattan, where his brother died when the World Trade Center towers fell on 9/11.

"He was a firefighter with Ladder (No.) 2," said Howell, of Charlotte, N.C. "The only thing I was thinking was, 'If I go down, my mother's not going to survive this.'"

Very happy everyone seems to be ok, with the exception for a few bumps and bruises. I've got a fraternity brother that flies for USAirways and has flown that flight many times, however he wasn't on that route yesterday.

Here, let me tell you what the Mom will say: "Son, get the Hell away from NYC!"

Thank God that everyone is OK!!!!!!!!! What a miracle, and what a great job it seems like the pilot did! I'm one who flies a LOT, and personally, I DO NOT LIKE IT!!!!! I don't like anything where I'm not in control. I have 5 flights to take in the next 3 weeks, and now I'm going to have to "double up" on my valium because this is fresh in my head! Not joking either, I have to take valium to get on a plane! Funny thing is, I think I could skydive or hanglide, b/c I would feel more in control than inside a jet!
