Chizik and his staff are doing A+ plus job

I think CGC and his staff are doing an outstanding recruiting job so far. And its not so much who we will get this year, it's the attitude toward big time prospects and they are recruiting some the best players in the country. i think the previus staff hadn't gotten locked into recruiting in just specific areas. We have multiple players from Texas and other states taking visits and considering Auburn. I like the new mindset towards recruiting. Don't get me wrong CTT has some good classes, but we never has a national recruiting prowess.

This staff has 3 assistants with connections to Texas and the HC was DC there...I'd expect us to start finally recruiting some kids out of that state. The old staff had no connections to Texas and didn't really bother trying to make a push there, their approach the recruiting was very "safe."

I agree, I like what he is doing. I do not expect to see the big pay off this year (I would love to steal a player, but I would be surprised if we steal more than 1), but I think next year our recruiting will be very solid. Just the fact that Chizik seems to have held on to as many as he has is impressing me. As fans we need to be patient this year and let the man build some momentum.

Tommy Tuberville and Steve Ensminger both coached at Texas A&M. Ensminger was actually there for an extended amount of time. Not that it's that much of a tie, but still a tie. Just throwin it out there. Greg Knox is from Rosebud, Texas --- home of a Running Back known as LaDanian Tomlinson, coached at TCU in Ft. Worth and Stephen F. Austin which is somewhere in central texas. Hugh Nall also coached at Texas Christian for a few years. Terry Price played for Texas A&M was a Graduate Assistant there. That's a lot of non utilized Texas ties.

Sorry dude, but tuberville being at Texas A&M for ONE year nearly 15 years ago, means NOTHING.

bolded the key point of the statement. those are still ties. to say that there are ZERO ties to the old staff and the state of Texas wouldn't be totally on point. I think they should have gone after Texas a lot harder and i'll concur with the point that it's great that we have coaches with current Texas ties and we can get in the door of some of those recruits now. The ties may have been void, but they were still there is all i was getting at. If they had wanted to recruit the state, they probably could have with some effectiveness --- they just didn't.

None of the former ties were anywhere big enough where we had any sort of "in" with any Texas HS programs or players, that is the difference.

A staff can only cover so much ground, and Florida has as many or more prospects as Texas. It costs us a lot less time and trouble to work Florida and the kids there have heard of Auburn. If we just gotta' leave the Alabama/Georgia recruiting area, Fla. is a lot better bet for us than Texas.

Although I'm extremely impressed with Chizik's staff choices thus far, I can't say I'm impressed with his 2 commits. It seems that he's had to spend most of his time shoring up CTT's recruits and not had a lot of time going after the other outstanding talent. I could be wrong. I still predict that he and his staff will land some very talented players in the waning days of this recruiting season and climb into the top 15 with this recruiting class. I'm very hopeful this week-end's visitors will result in 2-3 commits and I expect it will.
