Do we have any spindocs that can tell me why I should be happy with the recruiting to date?

5th best in the SEC West is hard to swallow for me.

That said, it's not signing day yet.

First of all, you are splitting hairs when you get down past 15th. The difference between AU and MSU is subjective and minimal at worst. I dare say you could argue for AU having as good or better recruiting class than the 3 SEC teams ranked immediately above us.

Secondly, what the hell did you expect. We fired our coaches (or they 'resigned') and you didn't think there would be fallout. To be honest, Tuberville's recruiting class this year was never that great and I think Chizik's coaching staff has done one hell of a job to keep the guys we have.

I'm also hoping that we get 2-3 surprises on NSD which would definitely move us into the top 20. B!tching and moaning at this point in the process is ridiculous. Wait for it to play out before you start hanging the staff and keep in mind, they were given a mediocre hand from Tubs and very little time to improve it.

What is it about "facts" that upsets you? You think I'm bitchin' and moanin'? You'd know it if I was. I've been trying to get on board with the new coaches, but comments like yours make me want to slam them again.

Hell, I'm part of Auburn. I have been reading threads here about how well the new coaches are doing. You even say what a great job the coaches have done to retain them. How many do you think would have left had we gotten any other coach???

I check our commits against, not the world, but the SEC - No, just the friggin' SEC West! I want to know why this rating is wrong, because if it is right, there's no consolation in tying MSU in recruiting when they lost a coach too.

If I were bitchin' or moanin' I would point out that we have gotten a committment from only one new guy and he was a 2 star when he committed. Things like that . . .

The "educated opinions" of Scout are not absolute "facts" but it is a gauge of our recruiting success. As of this date, we do not appear to be doing well when compared to our competition.

All I'm saying is wait until NSD. There are multiple high profile guys which we have a legit shot at signing and others that are at least considering us. Wait for the smoke to clear beforing passing judgement. That is all.

If you are unhappy with all the committmenst so far, who should you blame? When did they all commit and to which staff?

I think what he was saying is wait till signing day and see where this class stands and what new names are added to the list. At this point the list is not complete.

When it's too late for what....

Ohhh, I get it. B!tching & Moaning will motivate both the coaches to recruit harder and the prospects to want to sign w/ AU. I never knew our threads here influences the recruiting process as much as you believe they do. My bad, I need to start a thread to hire me as assistant coach for $300k...obviously this will influence Chizik to hire me. See you all on AU's sideline next season. :poke:

How many spots do we have open right now? The 3 juco/prep guys don't count against this year do they?

If not, looking at our commit list on rivals, we've got 17 currently, 18 with Gulley, but I'll leave him off since he's still not officially on the list. Is Tyler Knight still being recruited? I know everyone was saying he was a sign and place anyway. And are we going to be able to hold on to Kenney? So with 25 spots available, we'll have 8 left, and if we lose one or two of those guys, that still gives us 9 or 10 more spots available.

Anyone that knows anything about 'cruitin' want to give it a shot at what our final class might look like?

I have read that they will sign 28.

Does that include those 3 juco/prep? If so, does that technically put us at 25?

I got your spin RIGHT HERE.

The media bashing we've taken the last 45 days has created whispering among the masses that we're in the worst shape since Doug Barfield. Although students of Auburn football know we're set up w/ a another world class coaching staff, 5th in the SEC right now (again, according to media) is pretty good after the bludgeoning we've taken from folks that buy ink by the barrel (ESPN, Barkley, Brando, Bamaham News, etc.)

It's mid-January, all it takes is a couple great commits to rocket up the (media) recruiting charts. :au:

That or there may be a couple of sign and place kids. Off hand I don't remember, I will try to find out.

My expectations for this season are high. That's why I dated and put the time of the post in the post. I expected we would get some today - we have. I thought this would be a good baseline to evaluate the new recruiting team on. I don't see accepting facts as being negative.

I still do not believe that a harmless post like mine would cause recruits to run to Bammer or other teams. I think they would just as likely see our current position as a chance for early playing time at the best university in the country. That's just me.

Even Saban (who is one of the best recruiters in the country) could not do much in his first two months of recruiting. Even when his hiring caused a good stir and a wave of confidence among the fan base. His first year at uat Auburn ended up around 7 in recruiting and uat was around 20 (I am sure someone will enjoy looking up the exact number and correcting me).

The point is that it takes a while for a new staff to recruit. No coach, no matter how good of a recruiter, will be able to walk into a situation and change kids minds who have been recruited hard for 1-2 years by other staffs. We can not judge our coaching staff on our recruiting ranking this season. Personally, I would rather wait 4-5 years and judge the coaching staff on the performance on the field. But if we need to judge a coach by recruiting class then he should get a pass on this year.

There is truth to what you are saying, but there are reasons not to be pessimistic. It seems that Tubs left some tools in the AU shed when he left:

We have more visit slots available. That should help.

No Go ahead shot yourself now!

The End is NEEAARRRRR DOOOOM GLOOOOOM

Fire them all the SCAB dont like them !

Don't Wait! My expectations are that we will be cheering on signing day.

 Here's hoping you are right. If AU were to sign one or two of the ones still being recruited it would cause a jump in the standings you posted in the original post.
