Why so much coverage of the inauguration?

All we hear lately is that the media is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO objective when it comes to politics. That we are just blowing things out of proportion.

Why then, does Obama get a standing ovation when he enters the Washington Post building?

Why then, does Sirius/XM devote 17 freaking channels to the inauguration?

Why is HBfreakinO covering the inauguration?

Why have we been hearing commercials for the last 2 weeks?

Bottom line, the man hasn't spent ONE freakin day in office yet, and he's already been elevated to the level of greatest president in history.

THe parade of sycophants who are treating this man like he's the 2nd coming of Christ is beyond laughable. Objectivity has been thrown out the window. It's dishonest, and embarassing. The media in America has lost any and all objectivity. And I think it's sorry.

Already, we've seen that he gets a free pass on ANY of his nominations, he gets a free pass on yet another ostentatious public event. You LET a republican nominate a guy who doesn't pay his taxes...you LET a republican have an inauguration party that costs more than 3 times the most expensive one in history....and see what the media does.

Get used to it. The next 4 years will be a steady stream of soft soaping and lack of forced accountability from the media.

Yippie

We got to hear the left-wing cry for 8 years about how the media didn't hold Bush accountable enough for Iraq and other matters. I think Jon Stewart goes to be every night crying about that.

Now we get to hear the right-wing cry for the next 8 years about how the media won't hold Obama accountable enough

Awesome

No matter what, one side will have a problem.

You don't think Bush got blasted every day about the war in Iraq? I mean every single day? Please don't act like the coverage of the war was slanted in Bush's favor.

Have you ever seen such a state within our media over an inauguration - any inauguration?

"Historical" is one thing but 'hysterical' is quite another.

Does the MSM have no shame? Don't they feel the least bit uneasy with this blatant display of asskissing, hero worship we see on their part? All through the election process I wanted to think it was only rr, but it was the media as well and they may be even worse now.

And what does that portend in terms of their future ability to do their jobs as professional journalists?

I know the difference between a reporter and an opinion maker. And I'm talking about the reporters.

Oh yeah, it's going to be an interesting 4 years. And I'm going to be fascinated to see if the MSM can manage to remove its collective lips from Obama's butt long enough to do the job they tell us they do best and un-objectively with no bias.

Bush got blasted until the surge started working. I saw a statistic once on the number of minutes in a day covering Iraq, and there was a drastic drop corresponding with a major event as the result of the surge. I'll try and look it back up.

TM,

If you don't think that the dresses that Michelle Obama will wear are of National importance then you must be racist too!!!

:roflol:

Actually they think we are all racist since we don't engage in the same hero worship that rr has displayed for the past year. <_<

Speaking of dresses, this one looks really, really nice.

:(

They wouldn't be doing it if the ratings hero worship weren't through the roof.

Fixed that for you.

For the record rr, rationalization is not always good.

Oh, but this one is MUCH better!

Some one explain the correlation between viewers and revenue to TM.

Believe me, the networks wouldn't be dedicating all these resources and costs to covering this if no one was watching.

Hero worship

Would some one please explain the correlation between objectivity and hero worship to rr. He has been struggling with that for over a year now.

WHat ratings? Is there a previous Obama inauguration that has been televised for us to know what the ratings are going to be?

You still have no argument.

Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. When you toss 160 million dollars into throwing a party, that's gonna draw attention. When you book U2, Springsteen, Bionce, et al, for a " free " concert, that's gonna draw a crowd. This this is as manufactured as it possibly can be. Doesn't mean folks aren't excited to see the 1st black Prez, but add hype on hype, and you've got yourself a self perpetuating event.

Well, if you look at election night ratings and the campaign season coverage, this year shattered all prior. There are several articles online about this.

And I'd be willing to bet, Tuesday continues this trend.

Your Hero worship has been obvious for months. As has the same for the MSM during the campaign and now leading up to the inauguration.

60 Million in 04 vs 71 million in 08. I'm sure more people will watch the inauguration...because 1000x more publicity has been given to it. Just like the election this year. That doesn't mean it's warranted. That doesn't mean sat radio should devote 17 channels to it.

They didn't devote 17 channels in 04. They didn't pump up the inauguration for a month prior. They didn't get every celebrity in the world to write a song, do a dance, or film a commercial about it.

Your media is biased and staunchly so. There's no way around it.

Care to answer my question in the other thread?

My media? hah I could care less who broacast and who doesn't. But like it or not, there are lots of people watching (or as TM puts it, "hero worshipping") and that's why all the media outlets are fighting for pieces of the pie. I would have thought all you free market guys would understand this. ;)

Question other thread? Perusing now...

As well he should.
