I'm going to stream his speech while I work today. I also said a prayer for him this morning, that he does a good job.

You set up a flawed poll, there. I can't vote for "None of it" and give reasonable answers to the other two questions. Is there a way to modify it?

I assume a Mod would have to make that addition to the third question.

I'm most looking to his inaugural address as well. Talk about pressure...I can't imagine trying to craft and deliver a speech that has to live up to the historical significance of the moment and times. You look back and think of Lincoln's, FDR's, JFK's and others' speeches...and think just wow, what a high bar. Time will soon tell ... I'm really looking forward to it.

They've set up a TV in the conference room with it running live, so I'll be able to watch it live on a big screen.

It is a high bar, but I've always been impressed with Obama's speeches. I think he'll do a great job.

I have to admit, as a conservative I have a deep sense of dread for where our country is headed, but as a human being, I am grateful that the election of a black president will help put behind us a terrible injustice in our history.

God speed, Obama.

I'm curious to see his speech. The time for rhetoric is over, the time to make good on your campaign has arrived. I am nervous for what the future holds but pray God blesses President Obama and the United States of America!

Great day in history that I will remember for the rest of my life!!!!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Is that after damn America...Or before? Or now that he no longer associates with that guy, it is all forgotten?

I will not waste my time on this. I'll probably watch a rerun of I Love Lucy.... Be more insightful.

BTW. Didn't watch either Bush inauguration either. The important part will be played a million times over in the next 4 weeks anyway.

Ok...I still need time to digest and I want to re-watch but was any one else a little disappointed in the speech? It was good but where was the punch line? There was no “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”…no “ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country”…

And how about John Roberts butchering the oath? Boy oh boy. Anyways, I agree with most on here, G_d bless President Obama and our Country.

What??? "Pick yo'self up" doesn't inspire you to get a second job to pay your mortgage and pay more taxes?

You guys make me laugh. Alright back to topic, some of his better lines from the speech:

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the fainthearted -- for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things -- some celebrated, but more often men and women obscure in their labor -- who have carried us up the long, rugged path toward prosperity and freedom.
We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West: Know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back, nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

Just got home from the Capitol. I slept in my office last night to get a decent spot. Truly exhausting, amazing, memorable day.

Are you frozen?! How close were you able to get? Looked like quite a crowd on TV.

Watched it at work on PBS (only station we could get with the antenna). Glad to have watched it. Thought Rick Warren's prayer was well done and appropriate. The benediction however was comical, and not in a good way. Have some sense of the occasion and who you're praying to. It's not stand-up night at Zanies.

I'm still trying to get over how John Roberts, a Supreme Court Justice botched the Oath. I mean, it's in the Constitution, you'd think he'd have that memorized line by line now, egh?

If greatness is never GIVEN why are we denying everyone a shot at greatness and redistributing wealth like it's going out of style? If he places so much emphasis on earning - why reward those who don't earn a thing? i.e. those who prefer leisure over work.

We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.

Although I agree with the statement, I still wonder why he seems bent on undoing the progress that has been made. Things like closing GITMO and talks of withdrawl are steps backwards

words, words, words.... No substance

We'll need all the help we can get, that's for sure...

I've been nothing BUT disappointed in just about anything he's said - except maybe about a BCS playoff

Ditto. Personally I think all of this talk about a "black" president, "black" headcoaches is pathetic. I prefer sticking to the notion that you should hire the BEST candidate - the more we factor race into things the longer we will have racism - yes it goes both ways.

I did catch a little bit of the benediction being replayed on FNC and I can't help but wonder why Obama keeps associating himself with these kind of people. The guy took a swipe at white people while praying and Obama was all smiles. For those of you who didn't see it he prayed the "whites would get right". What did he exactly mean? Our nation elects a black half white, half black president and we are all still racist?

I will miss GW as my Commander and Chief. He is well respected by those of us in uniform, regardless of what people say. I should know.

I also welcome my new Commander and Chief. For my sake, and the sake of over 300,000,000 people (legal ones anyway), I say "Here I am sir, ready to defend and serve as I have for over 17 years. All I ask is that you keep her true to form, forceful when needed, and reserved when warranted."

I will keep my country above the rhetoric that divides us, yet speak when I feel she is being driven to fail on the doorstep of socialism.
