Before Willis, has there ever been anybody

Only people I can remember is Brother Oliver, who also Coached for Coach Jordan and Tater Tot and then Ron Middleton, who recently left for one of the Carolina Schools. However, Middleton had been gone from Auburn several years and coached several other places. To my knowledge, Auburn hadn't offered him a position either. To me, this ranks right up there with the Eric Ramsey betrayal. He'll never be wanted at Auburn again. Sad!

It's one thing to be an Auburn man, and trying to work your way up the ladder and end up at Bama at some point. That's understandable. It's completely understandable if you were an Auburn coach and were fired and decided to go to Alabama (nobody is upset that Gran went to UT). Hell, if you gotta work? Why not if that is the best opportunity available.

But it is a completely different deal to be an Auburn alum and coach there. Accept the job to stay on with a new coaching staff and then bolt to Alabama two weeks before signing day. Completely unacceptable. It shows he has no morals and has no Auburn values. He basically just spat on his alum. And I hope he burns for it. He won't, but I wish him nothing but the worst.

You didn't specify football so I say yes......Harvey Glance.

That one worked out rather well for us. Glance has done nothing at UAT, while our replacement for him, Ralph Spry, has won a Women's National Championship at Auburn and had the men's team in the top five several times.

Paul Davis was a long time assistant at Auburn (1967-80) before he left to coach at Alabama for Bear’s final two years. He later returned to Auburn (1987-90) for 4 more years. Although it was before my time ( I was alive but a baby) I’ve seen that many felt he should have been the one to take Shug’s place in 1976 and not Barfield. I think Davis was an Ole Miss grad. I was wondering the same thing tonight, and to my knowledge Middleton and Willis were the only two Auburn players or grads to coach at Alabama. With some research I discovered Alabama's head coach in 1901 M.S. Harvey was an Auburn man.
