sogaaufan 27
I didn't get a chance to watch the entire game, but I did see part of the second half. They seemed to be raving about Tyronne any time the subject of Olinemen came up. They said that he had an awesome week and had made a huge impression on the scouts. mcgufcm 4,109
I'll be shocked in Tyronne doesn't end up doing really really well in the NFL. He was the best guard in the SEC this year whether anyone realized it or not. To me, he's a little stronger than Ben Grubbs but a little less athletic, but I'd say he's got a similar ceiling. PS. I don't understand Auburn fans talking smack to Bama fans right now. I really don't. I had so much fun watching the Sugar Bowl. I love watching Bama lose. But that game didn't change the beating they handed us one iota. It reminds me of the silly Bama fans trying to talk about winning the second half in 2005... it just smacks of desperation. Bama stomped us. They have bragging rights until we prove it was a blip on the radar no matter how many peon schools beat them in the meantime. Agreed, BUUUUTTTTTT We all know what a rough year we had. The wheels fell off very early, and we all know the ending. So Bama did kick our azzes for sure (that's your ONE golden ticket bamzies!) but then their heads were so far up in the clouds and they thought they were the best team that college football had ever seen! Florida whipped that ass, then Utah whipped that ass! Come on mcgufcm, that's TWO for the price of ONE! OH YEAH, While I'm at it...............SCREW YOU BAMA! Bragging rights are over-rated, imo It's like UGA losing to UF....it happens almost every year yet I still refuse to give them an ounce of respect at least to their faces. Outside? mcgufcm 4,109
Yeah, there is no streak. You won a game. And any talk of "living in the past" from a Bama fan is beyond laughable. Slink, I have no problem disrespecting Bama. They were a one-trick pony that was completely dependent on the best lineman in the country, lost him, and got stomped. They're going to fall back to the pack this year because, despite the record, they still have a lack of overall talent on that team (much like 2005). They were a fluke of circumstances that convinced themselves they were great. Until they actually had to play a great team and lost, then lost again. With Smith, Bama was a top 10 team last year (no more); without him, they'll be a borderline Top 25 team. That said, I DO believe in bragging rights. It gives me no solace over getting our heads handed to us when Bama loses to Utah. It just gives me the joy of Bama losing to Utah. That doesn't change what I felt about the Iron Bowl, AND it doesn't open the door for me to talk smack. It opens the door for Mormons to talk smack. Streyeder 0
Yeah, there is no streak. You won a game. And any talk of "living in the past" from a Bama fan is beyond laughable. I'll take a streak of 1 over no streak at all. Slink, I have no problem disrespecting Bama. They were a one-trick pony that was completely dependent on the best lineman in the country, lost him, and got stomped. I guess you didn't notice us running to the left, right, and center on you? They're going to fall back to the pack this year because, despite the record, they still have a lack of overall talent on that team (much like 2005). They were a fluke of circumstances that convinced themselves they were great. Until they actually had to play a great team and lost, then lost again. With Smith, Bama was a top 10 team last year (no more); without him, they'll be a borderline Top 25 team. Seriously? Not a chance. The back of the pack will be occupied by MSU, Vandy, UK, AU, and USC. Beating Auburn made the final two loses not even matter much at all. Embarrassing Auburn 36-0 made life for this next year absolutely awesome no matter what happens. Even Ron Paul being elected wouldn't surpass the joy beating Auburn brought. mcgufcm 4,109
First off, again you can't have a streak at 1. You just have a win. Kinda like you can't have a 1 man dialogue. That's called a monologue. Or you can't have "a crowd" without three. I'd much rather have one win than have just lost. Yes. But you don't have a streak. And speaking of English lessons! I didn't realize that the phrase "coming back to the pack" actually meant "you'll finish last." Wait. Maybe I didn't know it because THAT'S NOT WHAT THE PHRASE MEANS. I never claimed Bama would finish last. I said you'd come back to the back, ie. you won't go 8-0 in conference next year. Something like 5-3 is more likely. And finally, if you don't think that having the best lineman in America on the left side was an immense benefit to the average guys on the other side, you don't know anything about football. I'll put it like this: if a guard plays with Shaq in his prime, he's going to look 100% better than he really is (think: Penny Hardaway). Why? Well the defense changes to compensate. If you don't double the Diesel, you will lose every time. If you double the Diesel, you leave guards open looks from deep. So a decent outside shooter becomes an All-star. In the same sense, if you don't overplay to Smith's side, you are conceding the run. If you do, you leave yourself open to passing AND to running in other lanes. Smith not only made Bama's passing game better; he made the right side of the line look better. Much like the Lakers after Kobe ran off Shaq, you'll notice the difference this year. We proved that the second half of the year when we stopped only running left and added center/right to our playbook.
