AUman43 5
You are welcomed along with a group of other visitors upon arrival. You're assigned to a player or player from the team as hosts as well as one of the War Eagle Girls. (at least that''s the way it used to be) You are given board, meals and entertainment during your visit as well as a tour of the athletic and educational facilities as well as the museum.Sometime during the visit, you meet with your prospective position coach as well as Coach Chizik for a one on one interview or talk so you can ask questions and they can ask questions. On unofficial visits, Auburn is not allowed to provide these amenities. That's the short version and I hope that answers it. Oh yes, sometimes the school will add some wrinkles such as allowing the prospect to wear the jersey around, which is obtained from a locker with his name on it. Other inducements are sometimes offered but hopefully not at Auburn. BamaGrad03 0
I think the NCAA recently nixed the jersey with the name on it deal. I'm not sure...but I think it's still OK if they wear the jersey. Just not with the name on it. Because THAT is what's going to sway a kid. Sigh. NCAA is stupid. The NCAA is incredibly foresighted. Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55746-what-happens-on-official-recruiting-visits/#findComment-576448 Share on other sites
TitanTiger 22,251
It's all about giving the "little schools" their fair shot. Because as we know, the real reason a kid chooses to go to Auburn, Alabama or Georgia over, say, UTEP is that those mean old SEC schools can afford personalized jerseys and other extravagant measures. Has nothing at all to do with being on TV 7-10 times a year and playing in front of about 90,000 screaming fans every home game. BamaGrad03 0
The NCAA used "unfair recruiting advantage" as their reasoning behind limiting the media guide to 300 something pages....
