Thought we were paying big money

Not that this isnt a lot of money to coacha sport as an assistant but I thought the new coaches especially ones from ok state were being paid around 400k. here is break down of what staff looks to be paid. Roof seems to be top dog. This looks like chump change compared to what Tennessee is throwing around.

Most of these ass'ts are making considerably more than most of Tub's ass'ts even though they had been at Auburn several years.

I said it before, Auburn will pay less on our entire staff than UAT pays Saban.

Right now, I stand corrected.

With two positions open, we are paying our entire staff (including HC)roughly 100K more than CNS makes alone.

This isn't nearly as much as UT's staff. I'm sure Bama's staff is paid more as well. I mean they are higher numbers than with Tubs, but I don't think it is anything ridiculous compared to the rest of the SEC.

Assistant coaches salaries are going to begin being a competitive issue. With multi-year contracts with increased salaries, assistant coaches are going to be shopping around now and moving more often, looking for a better deal.

WR and Asst. Head Coach Trooper Taylor: $320,000

DL Coach Tracy Rocker: $300,000

OL Coach Jeff Grimes: $290,000

RB Coach Curtis Luper: $260,000

TE and ST Coordinator Jay Boulware: $180,000

without bama boy's editorial comments: http://auburnbybeaver.blogspot.com/2009/01...s-released.html

The money is still pretty big. UT is paying their "top" guys (DC and OC, Orgeron) more, but we are paying more for the majority of the actual assistants. Example: save for the OC's and DC's (which are 200k+ at both schools) UT is only paying two assistants over $200k (Orgeron and Thompson)...meanwhile, we haven't even hired our full staff yet and we already have 4 assistants making over $200k. Eddie Gran is making $185k at UT and by comparison Luper is making $260k at Auburn. The surprise to me is Rocker making $300k...thats a lot for a guy who isn't a huge recruiter.

I still dont know how UT say 1.2 million for Monte is money well spent and 650 for Orgeron. Those two almost match the head coach in salary.

Since Kiffin is only making $2-million they obviously feel that a package of both Kiffin's for $3.2 million basically makes up what a "top" NCAA coach makes anyway, and its actually under in most cases. I'm pretty sure that Both Kiffin's + Orgeron = less than Saban makes by himself. When you put it that way its a pretty good deal.

They are overpaying for Ed. No way he's worth that much.

I think this might the new trend. Not going and paying a head coach all the money ala Saban but giving coach nice piece where him and his family can live a nice lifestyle in south, anything over 150k is doing it but keeping that extra money to pay big time assistants to build all around staff cause one man can only do so much.

Assistant Coaching salaries was due for a large increase, imo. HC salaries seem to be rising quite a bit while AC salaries are rising but not by the same % and I think it was only time before a few schools really bumped it up quite a bit

On one hand I think this will cause many other schools to get it up and possibly keep raising the bar

On the other, I figure the economy may not allow the rise to be that bad and schools will keep it in check.

I personally think Tennessee is putting together a solid staff but one that is nowhere near worth the salaries they are getting.

The whole thing has gotten out of hand. During this terrible economic time I find this very questionable and seems to demonstrate just how this country has lost it's sense of priorities. In any event, I feel that if these colleges and coaches are going to be making this much off the game, maybe its past time we paid the players something as well

(besides room, board and tuition) It might eliminate a lot of the problems with players which springs from financial difficulties while playing. THis issue is going to raise it's ugly head soon, I promise you. JMO

Most of these ass'ts are making considerably more than most of Tub's ass'ts even though they had been at Auburn several years.

And thank god.. This staff has already turned the recruiting landscape around within weeks. Imagine a full year. As far as recruiting goes, this staff also has the ability to coach as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think the two people I wanted retained didn't stay. One was a liar... the other is at Tenn.

Seeing UT over-pay so badly really does make me shake my head though I do feel a bit of a hypocrite because if Richt needed 2-3 assistants and we had to over-pay for them, I would probably have no problem with it AS LONG as we had the money

Such as DC....when Willie is forced out after next season, I would hope Richt goes out and finds the BEST DC AVAILABLE and if that means giving up the benjamins, spend the damn money

Just win
