SouthLink02 8
Going through it has been just as tough, maybe even tougher, on Jerry, Bomar's father, and also his high school coach. The dad couldn't bring himself to watch college football at all last fall. Part of it was that he saw Oklahoma growing. Another was how, as he watched other quarterbacks across the country, he felt his son was equal to any of them. But perhaps biggest was the circumstances under which all this came to be. "He and I both know that Oklahoma got off light and he didn't," Jerry Bomar said Wednesday. "He's never sold them out and he wouldn't. They're not innocent in this deal, trust me. ... Bob Stoops comes across as 'Mr. I Did the Right Thing' and there's stuff about Bob Stoops that if right now I told people, everybody being saying, 'What?' "But we're not gonna do that. We're not gonna go that way, and you can't win those battles anyway. It's in the past, it's gone, this is America, everybody deserves a second chance." http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?p=4261584 Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55935-ex-ou-qbs-dad-has-some-interesting-words-about-stoops/ Share on other sites

Dropping inuendoes like this makes him no better than the accused IMO. SouthLink02 8
I think everyone kind of assumed Stoops wasn't an angel in this but that doesn't surprise me as I think many coaches are far from the saints they claim to be. I am surprised his father brought this up like this. I would be ok with him eventually telling us what he is talking about. Him directly saying Stoops led Rhett to this dealer, etc....would bring massive sanctions Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55935-ex-ou-qbs-dad-has-some-interesting-words-about-stoops/#findComment-578564 Share on other sites

Basically his career is over so why would he take all the blame on this with no benefit? If Stoops hooked him up with this no-work job, I don't see how the kid just takes the blame and fades into the distance. I wouldn't mind Stoops hanging for this though. It's sickening the love affair ESPN has with him. Ugh. AU1941 6
Whether Stoops lead the kid to the no-work job, or not, the kid didn't HAVE to take the offer did he? The kid and his family knew it was the wrong thing to do. You pay the consequences when you intentionally make a decision to do wrong. If Stoops led him to do it (as in told him WHERE to go to get money), I am not sure how we could blame the kid Does he know its wrong? Sure but he also trusts the coach that he wont get in trouble based on HIS recommendation Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55935-ex-ou-qbs-dad-has-some-interesting-words-about-stoops/#findComment-579057 Share on other sites
AU Cav 0
Hey, I'm not supporting the kid. I'm just wondering what it takes to keep him quiet, if indeed he has anything on the program.
