It's a little amazing how quickly

the bammer arrogance and pompous attitudes (better than thou) have returned to some on here and other boards. For 6 years, you wondered where they were and now suddenly, they've come out of the woodwork, made the sporting goods stores wealthy w ith their banners, stickers, caps, etc., and ranked themselves as better than anyone else again. I suppose they'll never realize or accept the fact that the game has changed and so has the competition. When Bryant was coach, he recruited anyone he wanted until he started to get old and lost some, but now, with coaches like Kiffin, Myer, Richt, Chizik, Nutt, and Miles, they have to fight everyone else for the talent. Yes, Saban has done really well for his first couplel of years recruiting, but once you're full, and playing time limited, the draw will subside. I'm glad we don't have the "redneck" following that they do because it gives us more class. With the coaches we now have in the SEC, it's going to get really interesting in a year or two. When the bammers start to lose 3-4 games a year and not compete for national honors again, the rednecks will become restless and Saban will leave. What then? Offer somebody 20 million? I doubt it. They'd better realize that Auburn isn't going to go softly into that dark night and they will rage against the dying of the light and return to their previous heights. I guarantee it! We will welcome them to JHS this year and look forward to it.

I tend to agree in principle but I still look at USC and UF to some extent as the exception to what I highlighted above. They've been full for years but keep cranking in highly ranked classes. I do think USC and UF has a distinct advantage over many of the other programs in the country (USC more so than UF)...location, location, location. Auburn is even getting the benefit of this when battling for northern prospects. Also USC is the only real powerhouse out west so if top recruits want to stay close to home, the only real option out west is USC.

There was some 'mystique' with Saban when he first arrived in tuscaloserville but I do think that will wear as time goes on. This is of course assuming Saban stays longer than a couple more years.

I must admit I was floored by Bama fans reaction to their W against us.

I have always said great things about them before our game against them because my experiences with Bama fans has ALWAYS been fantastic before it. I went to the Bama/Miami Sugar Bowl in 1992 and loved hanging out with Bama players family/friends. I had a great time at Bama in 2002. I had no problem with them in 2003 either when they came to Athens. I even had no problem with their fans online before our game in 2007

But after our game this year, man o man did they come on our board just absolutely railing us, our program, coach, fans, etc....heck, we saw a good amount of that on here. I am used to losing and dealing with other teams fans (UF, UT, AU, etc...) but the sheer volume of people, the things they were saying, and other factors just really took me by surprise. Maybe it is my fault for putting their fans TOO HIGH on a pedestal.

We even had some locals here giving me and our fans a surprisingly ugly turn which again surprised me as you won't find me doing that in previous games v. them on here.

I still respect Bama though and it isn't like I dislike them or hate them.

You forget. They are largely a bunch of stump-necked, gap-toothed, biscuit-eating, polyester-wearing, stoop-gait, slack-jawed, cousin-kissing, backwoods, knuckle-dragging lackwits. It's all they have in life. We, on the other hand, all have meaning in our lives.

I take it you've never lived in the State, much less in the 1970's...

LOL, why don't you tell us how you really feel about the fans of the greatest university in the land. :poke:

Pshaw. Well, if we were actually talking about people who attended college, that would be one thing. But since the educational attainment of the average Alabama fan is somewhere around that of the New Guinea tapeworm, it's really not relevant to our discussion.

Otter, why are you comparing Bammers favorably with the tapeworms? It's not at all fair to the tapeworms. I could see it if you'd used the Collema lichen for comparison.

Nerd factor of this thread has increase significantly. ;)

Can I help it I'm an expert on fungus? Of course I recognized the similarities with the average Bama fan....

They've got mirrors in the land of Oz???

I'm glad we don't have the "redneck" following that they do because it gives us more class.

The same class that led this entire board to skewer a former player and coach relentlessly? Auburn's fanbase has no more class than any other fanbase in the nation, and it ain't a hell of a lot.

Class is recognizing the former players and their achievements. Our museum features those very things with a small section devoted to Pat Sullivan and Coach Jordan while yours, is a god worship for Paul Bear Bryant. Bryant always said it was "about the players" as did Coach Jordan, but in the end, it was all about Paul Bryant wasn't it? I wonder what his definition of Class was? Drinking, gambling, womanizing, cheating? Sounds right to me. Ya'll still have THAT class.

The quicker you get to hating them, the less disappointed you'll be.

Amen...as I've said before, my parents were Bamars and...oh well...honor thy father and mother. B)

I love the fans of the greatest university in the land and will always be an Auburn fan.

You're right. I apologize to all tapeworms everywhere. After all, Bama fans are considerably more parasitic, too.
