Is absolutely horrible. He couldn't cover a rock; even a pebble dammit.

He saved a sure TD and another long completion. Not bad for a rookie.

Elvis 'toast' Patterson intercepted many a pass, made many a tackle and defended a few throws. BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE HIM GOOD. Making 2 plays in a game (of which I can't remember either) and giving up multiple long plays to Santonio Holmes..YES Santonio Holmes does not make a good game. And I'm sick and tired of people saying 'not bad for a rookie'...he's played a full season and then some. He gets payed a $hitload of money to make plays of which he did not make...PERIOD.

Warner lost the game for the Cards, not the CB. 100 yard pick 6.

Warner lost the game all by himself? So was he the only one the field tonight? Sure a pick 6 didn't help but to put the blame on 1 guy sounds childish and bammerlike. Whenever I hear something like this it makes me sick to my stomach. Usually remarks like this are made by people who never played the game.

Warner lost the game for the Cards, not the cb LB. 100 yard pick 6.

LB. 100 yard pick 6 i'm a steelers fan and it was a thing of beauty.

If he's a LB then the criticism is even less well-placed.

And for the record I'm wearing a black and gold #43 jersey. :big:

I believe he was referencing Cromartie when he said CB. As in the qb lost the game, not the cb being talked about in this thread.

You'd have to be on a different planet if you didn't the see the difference between the two qbs. Kurt had a type of "Here or There" feel whereas Ben was very much more focused..

Yet.. Warner didn't lose this game for the Cards. It was the Arizona defense. In the 1st quarter.. I felt it would've been a blow out. The Steelers did what ever they wanted on offense. The defense started clicking later... I guess?? Yet that last drive by the Steelers was some of the most horrible coverage (or defensive calling) I've seen in awhile..

Warner played a brilliant game with one bad mistake. That mistake made them climb back up a mountain. Rogers-Cromartie was their best corner for most of the season (see: lining him up man to man against Roddy White and Steve Smith on back to back weeks in the playoffs). He just had a terrible game where he got exposed as a poor tackler (on the screens) and let that affect his coverage late in the game. The Cards also couldn't run back to the line of scrimmage. They were the 2nd most penalized team in Super Bowl history. The LT had 3 holding calls on him alone.

That said, the redzone defense was great. Fitz, Bolden, and Breaston were great. Warner now has the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest yardage totals in Super Bowl history. They came back from 13 down in the 4th against the best defense in the NFL, one that was being called "historically great" in a couple of articles I read. They made a great comeback as a team, and they lost as a team. The rookie had a rough night, but he wasn't alone.

As I look back at the stats... you're definitely right on. I thought Kurt looked "emotional" at times yet he did in fact have a brilliant game:

Warner - 31/41 for 377 yds, 3 tds, 1 int

Roethlisberger - 21/30 for 256 yds, 1 td, 1 int

Did everyone see the on the replay (for the INT return) where Rolle literally blocked Larry Fitzgerald by standing too close to the field? The hit cost Fitz a solid 5 yards or more. If Rolle is standing where he is supposed to be (he was on the white), Fitz runs Harrison down well before the endzone. That was just a killer mistake that really cost them.

What? He was in the play at the start. You don't have eligibility to make tackles. There was no flag thrown, and there would not have been a flag thrown. Rolle cost them.

When the OC had Warner & co run the no-huddle, the Steelers D looked like college. It was pulled out when the D was somewhat more tired in the 4th quarter w/ immediate success...then the Cards went back to whatever they tried for 3 quarters.

Boneheaded game plan by the Cards OC, IMO....and what was most responsible for the result.
