TigerHeat 9
Anyone have any idea what the Cardinals did to take Polomalu out of the game? He played every down, but he was virtually non-existant. He hardly impacted the game at all. He usually looks like he's the only guy on the field....last night I could hardly see him! rtftiger 40
He was covering the deep pass, the cardinals ran or threw to the flats alot. Bingo! It wasn't the Cards' gameplan that took him out of the mix. It was the Steeler gameplan. It seems that they totally re-engineered some of their schemes to protect against Arizona's explosiveness. I hate that the Cards didn't win, but what a game! Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55971-cardinals-gameplan/#findComment-578863 Share on other sites
mcgufcm 4,109
It was the Steelers' gameplan, but he wasn't in deep coverage. Most of the game he was underneath on Fitz with Corner help over the top. They basically reversed the normal way you play a receiver. They put the strong safety over Fitz' head and left the better coverage player over the top. The Pats did that fairly often with Rodney Harrison. The other reason he didn't show up a lot in the boxscore is because he wasn't sent on the blitz. They did a lot of zone blitzing with the Ends/LBs, but they didn't use the safeties in those blitzes. They normally do. Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/55971-cardinals-gameplan/#findComment-578871 Share on other sites
BigSammyK 180
I think he was clearly just wasn't in the right mindset because he spent too much time prior to the Super Bowl working on the Coca-Cola ad.
