Good points.

You want to fix this country - go to a representational democracy.

Seriously.

Only that individual liberties are not necessarily respected.

However, we do not hold our elected officials accountable.

The bastardization of the process, as we are now experiencing, allows those with the cash and influence to bend the rules in their favor.

No system is perfect, although I would take our chances as a republic.

When the voter is not educated enough to understand, and the entitlement mentality is their driving force, we all lose. We now have at least 2 generations of dependents, not being taught to be on their own, slaves if you will, to their party. It's no different.

It's all about power, the elite really does not care about them.

Justin....you just won a lot of points from me.....

Neal Boortz has said that for years.

If you think the general public is uneducated as a whole, then there's really no way to break with Boortz. I'm not saying that the world is "dumb", but just that they couldn't necessarily tell you "I voted for Obama/McCain b/c of ______ -- a specific policy."

And remember 3328, entitlement spreads across all generations and races in the U.S. Just because some choose to do absolutely nothing doesn't excuse them from thinking they're owed everything.

It still doesn't make it right, now does it (entitlements)?

There needs to be voting test.

Wow. We actually agree.

I've had this pet theory for years. Every two years, prior to an election, a bi-partisan commission gets together and develops 100 questions on civics, the Constitution, basic international politics, and economics. Nothing fancy, nothing hard. Questions that any reasonably attentive 15-year-old could answer.

Then, one month before the election, you print all 100 questions WITH THE ANSWERS in the newspaper. You mail it to every household. You have a website. In short, every single citizen has their 100 questions and 100 answers.

On voting day, when you walk into the booth, you are asked 10 multiple choice questions from that list. You can even take the answers in with you, making it the ultimate open-book test. If you answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly, your vote counts.

If, on the other hand, you miss 5 or more, then you really don't have any business deciding who leads this country. You'll vote, of course, but you'll have no idea if your vote counts or not.

We just need to remember, if you punish achievement, dumbing down as it were, the achievers will find a way to win anyway.

Cream always rises to the top, even in a totalitarian, monarchy, despotism, whatever!

Fight for freedom! Keep 'at powder dry. "One if by land.......

Sounds "elitist" to me.

Something needs to happen. We really need a host of outsiders to come in and flush Washington of it's trash. None of us, GOP, Ind., nor Dem will every get the true formula with the bunch up there as we speak.

I'd settle for a constitutional republic. link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_republic

A constitutional republic is a state where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people, and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens. In a constitutional republic, executive, legislative, and judicial powers are separated into distinct branches and the will of the majority of the population is tempered by protections for individual rights so that no individual or group has absolute power. The fact that a constitution exists that limits the government's power makes the state constitutional. That the head(s) of state and other officials are chosen by election, rather than inheriting their positions, and that their decisions are subject to judicial review makes a state republican; should the judicial review be maximized.

I especially would like to see a return to

John Adams defined a constitutional republic as "a government of laws, and not of men."[1] Constitutional republics are a deliberate attempt to diminish the perceived threat of majoritarianism, thereby protecting dissenting individuals and minority groups from the "tyranny of the majority" by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population.[2] The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who are required to legislate with limits of overarching constitutional law which a simple majority cannot modify.

Mob rule is always dangerous, a fact the Founders understood. Excuse me if I refuse to jump on the "democracy" bandwagon.

DC has become a cesspool of special interests and flim flam politicians whose most important job is to get elected and stay elected. They come in two flavors - ® and (D). So, why not just vote them out, you say? Easier said than done. And even if you are able vote them out, their replacements are soon taken to the blacksmith's shop and beaten into a new shape by party "leaders". Damn the citizens, damn the Constitution, full speed ahead.

Your party is the one for eroding freedoms.

OOKay, lets see proof........................................................?

A poorly educated electorate has been taken advantage of by:

Union Bosses beholding to guess what party...

Self serving "leaders" that bully, don't pay taxes, have foreign resort income producing properties tax exempt? Love that pic of Chaaalee at the beach passed out....ooo...resting.

A private jet to ferry her ass around the country, first time ever for Speaker

Scare tactics with regard to a natural phenomenon, our changing climate-and get paid millions, you get any?

Might want to research Farmers Almanac for past global instances of change, sheesh

Threats abridging the first amendment, Unfairness doctrine. Don't touch my damn radio!

Control of the minds of our kids in public schrools with disinformatsia. Regular attendance at PTA meetings needs to be posted to see if parents are in control of what kids see and hear. No req. just curious. I worked nights too when mine grew up, but we were there.

No ready acceptance to school vouchers-where evrybody gets a chance to a good education

No recognition of a Godly power, but a lot of people are in church for political rallies!

Must I go on, this may reveal the above to be true.

You know the old lampstand verse with regard to the light of truth............

I've worked to damn hard to watch my country be ruled and changed by a bunch of ineffective clinton rejects, paid by the euro-elites.

Funny thing how the party of Lincoln got hijacked by a bunch of socialists, and the party of Fredrick Douglas!

Nuff said, just don't get me started.

I feel much better now!

Name me ONE freedom you have lost? ONE!!!!

Case closed I'm sure!

I don't claim either party.

The Republicans are corrupt and corruption destroys progress. If Republicans could not be corrupt for a while, there economic ideas would actually work.

The Democrats are corrupt AND believe the stupidest things. If Democrats could not be corrupt for a while, there economic ideas still won't work.

Both parties are a waste

They are exactly the same

They bitch the same, They cry the same, They BLAME the same, and worst of all...they both believe the other party is the worst group of people ever born into this world

Candidates of both parties share common goals: (1) ego - get elected/stay elected; (2) money - make themselves filthy rich; (3) power/control - tell the rest of us how to live our lives.

They don't have to live like we do and furthermore, they don't care. A curse on both their parties.

We need to go back to the Congress meeting for a brief period annually. Full-time legislation has given us a ruling political class in a society that was supposed to be classless. They really don't acomplish much beyond soaking us for a fortune and keeping themselves in power.

So, anyone want to start a real third/alternative party?

If it would have a chance, hell yes!

The old line rockefeller republicans are weak, we get a little progress, and then they turn to jellyfish. Mr. Goldwater knew what he was up against, a benedict arnold.

Might be tough with the gov/bankers in control.

These people are evil, period.
