I can barely look

I was a little nervous when I saw just 2 OL on today's list. However, what's even more nerve racking is we didn't even score one OL last year (no thanks to CTT and Nall Ball). In '07 we did get score a top 3 class with 4 or 5 (Ziemba, Pugh and etc). In '06 we received 2 but one is no longer with us. In '05 we signed 2 who are no longer with us. It's just amazing why a good number of the AU fans wanted to keep Nall Ball but when you break the numbers down it's terrible.

The problem is we can't even covert a DL because we are thin there as well. Heck we can't even pull a Tuberville move and slide a TE over (Danny Lindsey, McCain and etc). Next year we have to focus on this and maybe bring in at least 3 or maybe 4 OL. As far as the rest of the positions I would say 3 to 4 on the DL and probably 3 WR. I say double it because we need some competition at both positions.

No argument here. Next year we need to sign something like 5-6 OL. This next year will be summed up with a 'hold on tight' attitude and hope for no injuries.

Of course we know our luck with that.

Right now we have 3 of our 5 OL returning. Mike Berry will take one spot. Cooper, Coulahan, Eddins, and McCain will fight for the other, since Berry is versatile. Maybe Roseman, Greene, Sullen, or Harris can provide extra depth. We ought to be able to make it through this year, but if we get some injuries, we could be in big trouble. Ziemba is the key here. We have got to have him return to his freshman form if we are going to be competitive in the West.

i still think that our injuries have something to do with the fact that we practice on that freaking Turf.

Ziemba, Isom, Pugh, Berry ----- thats a pretty SOLID 4

and like a previous poster said we have 3 or 5 guys that will battle it out for the other starting spot...

so barring any major serious injuries we should be just fine.......

one plus about the 2 lineman we signed this year is they are BIG... 6'5" 320plus so run blocking wont be that big of an issue with them if we need them to play early.... just tell them to "lean".... but pass blocking may be an issue with them early in their career

not disagreeing with anyone here...but 320 as a HS playing weight is a lot different than 320 college. I haven't seen the kids, but I imagine there's a lot of extra baby fat holding on. That works for HS because you can just push around guys, but when you are going up against big time DL's, you need to be a little more svelte.

Sullen is pretty solid, but he needs to shave 20 and add 10 if you know what I mean. He's a big kid. I spoke to him in Wal-Mart on Wed. night, and he's already working on lower body strength and foot work. He was a beast v/s Opelika. AHS ran 7 straight plays behind him as they went in to score for the victory.

Harris looks to be ready to get in there and compete, but it's hard to say for sure.

Spring will tell us a lot I think.

Agree 110%.

Auburn will continue to struggle offensively until this most glaring problem is fixed.

I actually think the line will be o.k. next year, barring injuries. May not be the strength of the team but if your offense is quick hit whether running or passing (see Utah) then you help the line by not requiring them to maintain blocks or drive block every play. It is important to have north/south running with a back that can be through the gap in a hiccup. If your line is not where you want it to be the east/west running we saw last year will lead to... well we saw what that leads to.

It looks like this year we got speed and playmakers (also a big weakness) and next year we are going to load up on size and fill our line spots. CGC talks about using team weaknesses as an opportunity to recruit good players at that spot. I bet we will get some good linemen next year.

I'm just not sold on Isom. When he got hurt last year he lost his starting job. I think he was a sub or Nall just made a mistake. Berry is much bigger and better. I'm not sure what to think about McCain. He may just lack the skill set to make certain blocks (he reminds me of King Dunlap; tall and lanky body). I'm suprised that Eddins has stepped up which I think he might be a better fit in this offense as far as skill and size. Kyle C, Cooper or Eddins has to step up otherwise we are back to starting 2 fr OL again.
