Tuberville's Television Performance

He was talking about us getting 4-Star WR Marlon Brown and said "with AJ Green besides him, I think I could throw to both of them and be successful"

Had me chuckling

He was excellent - obviously a great coach. He was knowledgeable, articulate, polite and to the point.

I couldn't help to think what he was thinking about those around him as they were giving their opinions - he always doubted the "recruiting experts."

All I can say is that he was absolutely great - much different and better than Terry Bowden ever was.

Even on bama forums they were commenting on how great he did and how nice of a change it was to have someone who made sense.

He was great. He was more straightforward than some of the folks on set, and he compared recruits to guys he'd either coached or coached against. I liked it.

The only part that was really really strange to me was this: ESPN has Auburn's former head coach on-set for a 2.5 hour recruiting special at the end of the day. They touch on schools like Rutgers, Stanford, UNC, South Carolina, as well as every other major player (the LSUs, USCs, etc.); yet they didn't say one thing or ask one question about Auburn. Not one? Seriously how do you have that guy on-set and not at least say, "what holes did Auburn need to fill?" or "how do you think former assistant Chizik did?" That was ridiculous.

I dont think it was that ridiculous. ESPN probaly was comfortable asking Tuberville about Auburn but I would guess that Tuberville said something to ESPN before he agreed that he did not want to talk about Auburn as a show of respect to Auburn. Not that he would have said anything bad about us but he didnt want to risk having his words taken out of context by the bammer media.

I watched the show off and on all day. Tuberville was excellent. Knowledgeable, straight-forward, and, at times, humorous when it was called for.

Several times they had someone (besides the four on the main set) interview various HCs during the day. Was Coach Chizik ever interviewed? If he was, I missed it.

Fixed that for ya........... :poke::big:

"Fixed" is what y'all are good at.

Exactly. Tubs said in advance he wouldn't talk about Auburn.

Do we know that for sure? I don't see how it's disrespectful to talk about a program that you have intimate knowledge of. I mean, I would expect Sly Croom to talk about MSU if he were on TV.

AND even if Tubs told them he wouldn't talk about Auburn, how does that explain omitting a major SEC school from the entire show. No interview with Chizik. No run down of signees. No mention of the Randle/Benton stuff (clearly one of the bigger recruiting stories in the southeast on signing day). They addressed or talked to the coaches at: LSU, Alabama, MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, UT, UF, and UGA. ESPN botched that one.

Tubs was good because he showed insight without being boring

Fulmer's fat ass just was really vague and never really gave any insight about players outside of the same positives for each WR, RB, & QB. It was hard to listen to him. I will say though that he talked some about the coaches which was interesting but that was it

Tubs actually talked about the players, etc....

Seriously dude, can you waste more bandwidth on something even less worthwhile? How fragile is your schoolgirl ego that you can't be excluded from a random list? SL, you got a fragile schoolgirl ego pic I can borrow?

Doesn't Tubs have another LARGE payment coming in less than a year? Maybe he chose to not speak or get put into any situations that would put that payment in jeopardy.

Just sayin...

I think that had nothing to do with it. No offense but I think your post demonstrates what he was trying to avoid. I'm sure you don't mean to be negative but you speculate about what his motive might be and suggest it was about money. Tubs said in advance he didn't want to talk about Auburn for fear something he said would be misinterpreted and make it sound like he was being bitter. He said he didn't want to say anything that might hurt Auburn or cause a controversy. The man truly love Auburn in spite of the fact he was crapped on by JJ and a few BOTs. Why we can't accept that is mind boggling to me. Heck if he had said openly "I love Auburn" someone would have said he was being sarcastic.

No offense taken. I'm merely pointing out the possibility he may have had to sign some type of agreement when he "resigned" of which not coaching for a certain time frame or speaking about the circumstances that led up to his resignation may have been addressed in order for him to receive his buyout. Isn't it possible that could be the reason he would prefer not to comment on Auburn? It's quite common for these types of agreements to be reached as part of a settlement.
