After the St. John High School boys team had won the state basketball championship two years ago and was runner-up last year, the team went just 7-6 through last week.

So the coach tried something different: hypnotism.

Most team members underwent two 45-minute sessions last week to increase their concentration and focus. It's not clear what happened during the sessions; the therapist who led them wouldn't say, and the coach did not return phone calls.

Monday night, the school board voted to stop the sessions.

"It won't be going on any more at school," said superintendent James Kenworthy. "If parents want their child to do that, they can contact the licensed therapist on their own."

"Look into my eyes,,,,,,,, you are getting sleepy,,,,,,,,,you are getting sleepy."

If it worked for me as a player, I would demand it

Nick Saban's next great recruiting tool. I'm sure it's not directly prohibited by the NCAA... yet ;)

In one of my Psych classes at Auburn, the final was to make up a relaxation technique and present it to the class. I took it a step farther, and really got interested in learning about serious relaxation techniques and hypnosis. I ended up combining a bunch of different techniques that I had been studying about, and decided to try my "new technique" on the class. I brought in some super soft music, candles, and covered the windows with aluminum foil. I then did my technique on the class. When I was done, I had put EVERY SINGLE person into a weird sleep/translike state of mind, INCLUDING the teacher! I was scared, b/c this was not my intention and I was afraid that I would not be able to wake them up. THANK GOD I was able to wake them up using some sort of thing that I had read about. I don't think they were actually hypnotized, but they were definitaly not just regular asleep or awake. When the silence broke and everyone was back to normal, there were some that were excited and wanted to know more and there were others who were angry and scared. The teacher told me that I did a great job, but to NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE do something like that again. She said that putting people in such a relaxed state could be dangerous for some people as it might bring back repressed memories or some other "unknowns". She did give me an A in the class..........
