Kiffin accuses Meyer of cheating

This morning, after his first Vols signing day, Kiffin offered another example, as reported by this Web site right here. Kiffin just jumps out and accuses Florida's Urban Meyer of a recruiting violation in the pursuit of prospect Nu'Keese Richardson. Kiffin said Meyer called Richardson when he was on his Tennessee official visit.

"I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him," Kiffin told the crowd in the video. Yikes. I bet we haven't heard the last of this...

Kiffin is a train wreck waiting to happen. I didn't realize what kind of personality he had, but I think UT folks are going to rue the day they hired such a loose cannon.

SL, i found the article linked at a tennessee website too. Here's the complete article. AL.com conveniently left out kiffins comments about uat. wonder why?

I agree Titan. He has put a huge bullseye on his chest. I bet Meyer beats him by 40 next year.

I love the quote by Lance Thompson...."just FYI, Utah had no 5-star recruits and they kicked the lining out of our tails."

Ouch :big:

You know what makes this even weirder

Kiffin has later admitted to telling NR not to tell UF about his trip to Knoxville

So, Meyer had no idea he was visiting UT

So, it isn't a violation

So, Kiffin just called out Meyer for cheating ALL THE WHILE KNOWING Meyer didn't cheat

WOW

Kiffin is in way over his head......He has made enemies with Spurrier, Saban and Meyer before he's even coached his first SEC practice.

Did we (Auburn) get beat in Mobile or something? Did Eddie Gran get some Mobile recruits to go to UT and thus we were out recruited by UT in that area? I was just a bit confused by that quote.

I think Florida beat both UGA and UT by 40 in the last two years.

We might see a bloodbath of epic proportions in Gainsville come October. I could see Meyer try and emulate one of those Houston teams of the 80's that would put 80+ up on teams.

I'd love to be at that game. Love it. It's going to be a murder.

What. An. Idiot. You know what they say about tugging on Superman's cape? You don't do it.

Ahh..no worries, Superman is going to be headed to South Bend after next year anyhow. ;)

Yeah, Kiffin is a loose cannon. You really don't want to give anyone in the SEC additional reasons to put a beat down on you.

So you think Myers is going to ND rather than Saban?

Sure...they can get him cheaper than Saban! :big:

Florida AD's response:

"There was no rule violation and we have confirmed this with Southeastern Conference. It is obvious that Coach Kiffin doesn't know that there is not a rule precluding phone contact with a prospect during an official visit on another campus during a contact period. His allegations are inappropriate, out of line and, most importantly, totally false. It is completely unfair to Urban Meyer, our coaching staff, our football program and our institution.

"The appropriate action at this time in my opinion is for Coach Kiffin to make a public apology. His comments not only slandered our coach, but he violated SEC rules by publicly criticizing another coach and institution."

Thompson was trying to emphasize that UA owns the Memphis area no more - that UT does.

Like when AU was doing very well in the Mobile area before Nick and Lance came to UA, and he was asking Gran to confirm that UA took over Mobile.

Tooting his own horn a bit in front of the choir, I think. :)

Wow, he hasn't even coached a game yet and he already looks like an idiot. Maybe he should leave the recruiting and talking to the rest of his staff and figure out how in the hell he's finally going to win a football game?

Kiffin may have something but this is NOT the way to go about it. He's losing friends faster than a child molester who's discovered.

(But it's my guess if it had happened to a UF recruit Meyer and his boss would be singing a different tune.)

I would say that the appropriate action would be for the other 11 SEC schools begin calling any and all recruits while they are visiting Florida. Put them on speed dial. Every 10 minutes. Just saying hi, we love you.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Feb. 5, 2009) ? Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive has issued a public reprimand to University of Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin for his public comments made earlier today.

"Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics," Slive said. "SEC Bylaw 10.5.1 clearly states that coaches and administrators shall refrain from directed public criticism of other member institutions, their staffs or players.”

“The phone call to which Coach Kiffin referred to in his public comments is not a violation of SEC or NCAA rules. We expect our coaches to have an understanding and knowledge of conference and NCAA rules.”
