Football Camps?

:au: I know Tuberville and his staff were well known for running a top notch camp program for high school kids and younger kids. Does anybody know if Chizik has any plans for their camps? I know it's early, but I was curious as to what he did at ISU. :au:

I would venture to say they will continue this. That is more the school than the coach, I believe. I attended the Bama and Auburn camps in high school (Stallings and Bowden were in power at the time). AU has always had a top notch camp and I'm sure it will continue.

I would venture to say with the coaching staff in place now, it will improve. The head coaches have very little to do with the day-to-day stuff in the camp, it is handled by coordinators and assistance coaches. Head coach will walk around and give random instruction. I think this staff will be more valulable in that regard than Tuberville's.

Just my $0.02

These camps are absolutely essential to player evaluation and recruiting. I would expect that Chizik will expand the territory in which participants are invited from as well.

War Damn Auburn Football Camps!!!

What a great way to begin building relationships with future recruits. Like Duder and AUman43, I see Coach Chizik and our assistants continuing this excellent program. It's good for the young men and good for our coaches. A win win.

I know it turns into a media circus but I think it would be good to have one of weekends setup by Under armor or another big name sponsor. It draws in the big name recruits to these functions and that helps with recruiting if you can get many of the top recruits here.

I know Nike sponsors camps and I think under armor does too. For recruits who know nothing about Auburn and live in California or Texas it might be a way to get them out here.

My 14 year old will be there, barring an act of God or an algebra-based homicide.

Someone at AU might want to update the Football Camps info page with Coach Chizik's name.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have heard our coaches state how IMPORTANT it is to have their own camp and run it efficiently so the coaches can see who they want and talk to who they want

It can be VITAL to getting any sleepers and/or making great impressions on the top prospects

Ole Miss under Ed O ran a really upbeat, high temp camp that some recruits loved and it was a big reason they got some highly ranked kids, imo.

Alot of kids have said the same regarding UA's camps and practices. Everything is high tempo, game speed, and not a minute wasted. Everything is greatly organized.

Its ok, don't cry. I don't see you getting all huffy about Slink talking about a UGA or Ole Miss camp.

He has something worthwhile to say and doesn't urinate on every thread in the AU forum.

What kids told you about UAT's camps? Can I get their phone numbers so I can find out info? Oh, you made it up? Crap. I thought you might have had something worthwhile to add. My bad.

I wouldn't let my kid anywhere near Tuscaloosa. I wouldn't want him caught up in the brewing fiasco. :big:

Odd, what I said was basically the same thing he said.

These events by Nike, UnderArmor and Scout.com are combines not camps. There's a big difference. That being said, you want see them ever being part of AU camps.

I can't believe it. RWS thinks UA does something really well. He believes everyone loves it, and more so feels the need to share.

And BTW, the difference in yours and links is that he wasn't talking about how great UGA's camps were, if anything he was talking about how great Ole Miss's were.

You on the other hand saw his comment saying that player's really liked Ole Miss's camp and thought we'd be interested to hear, "Yeah, ours too ours too."

Yep. I thought it was obvious to everyone, so I wasn't going to respond. Thanks for having my back.
