Breaking down the stimulus package

Don't give me that. I was complaining about the spending under the Bush admin and GOP Congress years ago.

And I'm not even complaining about green energy or school spending. But you'd have to be crazy to think this thing couldn't be trimmed by 30-40% and still do what it's purported to be doing.

Plus, the problem is that this bill is spending above and beyond all the regular spending we're already doing such as what you list in your cute little cartoon that didn't address the issue. It's just sickening.

Nuts!

ACORN To Swarm Capitol Hill for Porkulus Bill

FEBRUARY 9TH, 2009 BY MATTHEW VADUM

An ACORN insider just told me that the group is planning to send hundreds of activists to Capitol Hill this Wednesday to press lawmakers to approve the porkulus spending legislation that would give the heavily tax-subsidized ACORN a shot at up to $5.2 billion in taxpayer dollars.

Again, anybody who blames one party over the other on this crisis is a fool, a dupe.

I sat in a meeting this morning with the manager of a mutual fund. Smart, smart guy. Ten times smarter than me. He's never been wrong once about anything yet. We really started talking about a lot of stuff, about China, the current bailout, etc. It is his contention that this is nothing more than government taking from the poor and giving to the rich. The stimulus will not do a damned bit of good, no matter how much we throw at it. It is nothing less than corruption of the highest order, and both Democrats and Republicans are participating in it with full knowledge and complicity. It is a replay of the mess that Japan went through beginning in 1989 and haven't emerged from yet: Keynsian policy after Keynsian policy, with no effect. Just oligarchs voting money to one another.

Instead, we should do what the southeast Asian economies did at the end of the 90s during the contagion: Let debtors go bankrupt. Stop saying banks are "too big to fail" and just let them fail instead of propping them up. Endure short term pain to allow the market to do their work.

Again, anybody who blames one party over the other on this crisis is a fool, a dupe.

AMEN!!!!!! Take off the damn red and/or blue glasses and replace them with the new and more important

RED, WHITE, and BLUE ones!

No kidding. All the finger pointing here just sickens me.

I know I usually show my conservative roots, but the whole town up there sickens me. From Penn. Ave to Congress. If you have been there for more than a year, then you are bought and paid for. The rest are lining up.
