Debra "Debbie" Beebe, 46, is principal of Drake Middle School in Auburn.

James "JT" Thomas Jr., 24, manages an Angus cattle ranch near Mobile.

Both are contestants on "Survivor: Tocantins," which premieres Thursday at 7 p.m. on CBS 42.

They're among 16 people battling it out in Brazil.

This is the 18th installment of the reality series, in which people are voted off the island one by one until the last contestant standing wins $1 million.

"Left stranded in the majestic interior of Brazil for 39 days," CBS says, "these castaways will battle scorching temperatures, torrential downpours, and dangerous wildlife all in an effort to outwit, outplay, and outlast one another in order to win the title of Sole Survivor."

We've talked to Debbie and JT, and you can read all about them in Thursday's Birmingham News.
