Always liked the Wintzells downtown Mobile...so I was very happy when they built a location in Hattiesburg bout year and a half ago....lot shorter trip!

I liked the old Twains, before they added the brewery and made it all "nice" inside. Ohh..and RIP Trackside Tavern.

I actually like the new Twains better. It's much more open. They brew some pretty good beers there. And their pretty well priced.

And I'd been to Trackside a handful of times. Great place. Too bad they had that fire. I hope the place next door - The 5th Earl - comes back. They had really good deli style food. They had some damage too.

So, nobody here is going to mention Velma's in Trussville? I meet a buddy there after work sometimes, and every now and then I'll hit Neighborhood's in Trussville. They're not bars so much for "going out", mainly just for "meeting up".

When I go down on the Southside, I'll hit Dave's, and I've been to the Blue Monkey a couple of times. But with the young kids, I don't get down there very often.

Brickstore is AMAZING!! McChouffe is the greatest beer EVER.

La Chouffe. And yes, it's really good. They just opened another place right down the street called Leon's Full Service - http://leonsfullservice.com/. A "gastropub." That word annoys me for some reason, but that's about the only other way I know how to describe it. It's kind of an upscale pub. Great beers and really good food that's not too pricy, but still has a pub feel to it. They brought one of the guys from Rathbuns over to be the head chef. Haven't been yet, but I might go tonight.

Chimay Blue disgrees(If you're talking about a Belgian strong dark). Folks have caught on to Chimay and the price has gone up quite a bit over the years. Dogfish Head Raison D'etre isn't half bad either...that and the unibroes (in terms of stuff you can easily get around Atlanta).

Brickstore is great b/c they get some of the very limited Sweetwater releases.

There is La Chouffe and there is McChouffe, I'm talking about McChouffe! There is a bar up here in DC called Brickskellar that has La Chouffe and Da Chouffe along with another 1000 beers, I plan on checking that place out soon.
