Brief Talk With Tubs Tonight

Proud Tiger

Recommended Posts

My wife and I came down to Auburn today to spend a few days and go to the basketball game Saturday. We ran into Coach Tubs at dinner tonight (actually he came over to our table to say hi). He was upbeat and very relaxed. It's good to still see him around Auburn and enjoying time with his family. He is a class act.

He is going to be working with ESPN during the 2009 season and would like to be back coaching in 2010.

He did so much for us, and is arguably the best coach we've ever had. Next time you see him, tell him we said, "Hey"...and War Eagle, Coach Tubs!!!

You seem to have a problem with anyone posting about talking to anyone at Auburn. Maybe you should do that sometime without taking cute potshots. :poke:

You just crack me up with your name dropping. I love how it's necessary for you to point out that tubs came over to your table and such. Other than the fact that he came over to your table there really isn't anything in your post that anyone else didn't already know. So, basically this was a post to remind everyone that you know tubs.

You know tubs, we know that. Goody gum drops for you. You picked the perfect name for yourself, PROUDtiger. Isn't pride one of the seven deadly sins or something like that? :poke:

And , no, I'm not buddies with any AU celebs and don't hold celebs in any higher status than I do anyone else, which is why your name dropping cracks me up. Keep that chin up PROUD.

No one is twisting your arm to read my posts but I'm glad to see I add a little spice to your life. I'm not dropping names, just sharing a chance run-in with Coach Tubs. I made the same post on another board and people joined in by talking about their chance encounters with Tubs. Maybe someday you will have an opportunity like that and can share it with us and not have to be so cynical.

You know, I don't see it as name dropping. I see it that he saw our previous coach, that we all want to know how he is doing, and he found it out and told us. I don't see Tuberville as a celeb, I see him as our friend.

And by the way, what IS your problem?

Thanks AU alum. If you find out what his problem is please share it :)

I don't have a problem. I just commented on prouds name dropping which I find funny. Was it really a news flash to you that tubs is in AU and enjoying himself? Tubs is an AU celeb. He is our friend too. I love the guy and wish him well. I really couldn't give a rats rear if proud bumped into him at dinner last night or whenever. This is the AU Football board not the AU celeb gossip board. JMO. Your opinions don't bother me. If mine do you then , oh well.

I read it as PT showing that exCTT is comfortable and not shying away from talking with folks. I appreciate the update. I hope he stays in Auburn, is recognized for the great things that he did, and enjoys a long life in Auburn with as much (or as little) connection to the program as he wants.

Errr, the story since the day he was fired has been that CTT is comfortable, loves AU, and not holding a grudge against AU. You need an update about that?

Tubs will always be recognized for his great accomplishments at AU. He raised the program up and left it much better than he found it.

Whatever floats your boat proud. If I ran into tubs around Au one day I would definitely give him a war eagle and such. I wouldn't come here and start a thread about it, but hey, more power to you.

So would this be the thread to mention that I watched the Buster Douglas-Mike Tyson fight in 1990 with former :au: center John Hudson? B)

Thanks PT for the info. I read your post and was thinking what a shame it is that Tubs will likely never have even a fire hydrant named after him at AU. Then before I could complete my thought, I read the moronic commit below yours and lost all concentration.

I thought it was very nice of you to show that you didn't go running up to Tubs and disturb his meal. At any rate, keep any future updates coming and disregard the flack.

I would find that interesting but I seriouly doubt tiger88 would :P

Thanks. Nice to see most people take it as I intended it. I don't think tiger88 is a moron, just apparently lives a secluded life and obviously has a different perspective than me.

I would post that I talked with Lowder after last evening's BOT meeting and went over and had a nice talk with JJ this morning but that would really crack him up(of course I'm just kidding here). :big:

I guess I should have stayed at the Holiday Inn last night but I did go over and watch a little of the women's softball tournament this morning.

A point of clarification - I was very careful not to call T88 a "moron." I said that his comment was "moronic." There's quite a difference.

Got it. So we both agree he is not a moron :P

It is interesting though that as I write this post nearly 275 people have read the post and he seems to be the only one having a problem.

What a coincidence. I saw the same fight with a girl whose cousin was a 3rd string long snapper. Unfortunately, even with that connection, I can't remember his name.

Dude how full is your magazine rack? No one begged you to read his post and if you haven't noticed TT is kind of related to the football program. Jezz man who pissed in your wheeties today? Thanks for the update PT you are a good poster!

Thanks PT. Maybe I'm too simple minded for T88 but I enjoy hearing about encounters with players\coaches also.

Hey! I went out with a girl once who rode the roller coaster at Six Flags with Billy Idol! :big:

No one. I just commented on a thread. Looks like your the one with the wadded panties. Your glad he posted it. I thought it was a waste of space and him feeling the need to gloat about the fact that not only did he see tubs but tubs came over to his table to say hi. It was barely worth mentioning but I mentioned it because I like rattling his cage from time to time, mainly because he does the same to other posters.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, I hadn't wasted quite enough time today and that cinches it. Now I have.

Not to mention that had you called someone else a moron you would have been immediately struck by lightning. :big: Not saying it wouldn't have been true, I'm just saying.
