Who is the next Cadillac

Who is the next Cadillac? Yes I know you're thinking there will only be one Carnell much like there will be only one Bo.

But I think Carnell was the difference maker for the 2004 team. His work ethic was contagious. He made everyone better around him, much like Michael Jordan did in basketball.

So who do you guys see as being a player that will push the rest of the team, lead by example, and make the other players on the team better?

I think it's vitally important to have 1 or 2 players on a team that does that and I feel that's what we've been missing the past couple years.

We have definitely suffered from a lack of on-field leadership.

Anthony Jamison...lead the spring game in rushing a couple of years ago...he actually wore cadillacs number...i hear he is waiting for something from the clearing house and i talked to some of the players and they think he will be our toughest, best back

Look I love hearing stories of walk-ons succeeding and all, but with all due respect to them, a team can't be great unless it's best players are the leaders. That's what Slink has been screaming to the high heavens about UGA under Moreno and Stafford for the past year. Those two guys weren't the leaders, and unless they were in the lead, that team was never going to reach its potential.

So the question, for me, is a two-parter: 1) who are the best players on the team and 2) will they step up in the way that Cadillac (and Ronnie and Jason and big Marcus and Carlos did)?

To the first, I'd say we don't really know. I think Fannin is the most talented guy on the offense. But I'd say the offense and the defense are blank slates as far as the "best guy" AND as far as leadership. I don't know who the face of the program is right now.

I wish Kodi would step up and be a vocal leader, but I just don't think he has that type of personality. Hopefully we'll have one or two guys on offense really shine and help lead this year.

Freeman looks like he might be that guy on defense.

It's kind of hard to judge this honestly, based on the fact that the current players we have in place have not operated in any effective system of training and/or playcalling that would let them be effective leaders on offense.

We do not have a caddy on the team currently. I think our next Caddy will come under a CGC first full season recruiting class which will be the 2010 class. I see some kids in that class if we landed them could be our next caddy. Dyer is who I have my eye one.

We have good RBs currently on team that can get job done but no Caddy, Ronnie Brown, or even a Kenny Irons. Fannin will be good in the new offense but he is not caddy either.

I really hope Bynes steps into a leadership role this next season on defense. He is a very talented LB. You can tell he works hard just by how hard he plays. You also have Coleman that provides a lot of experience. I hope he can make the people around on the Dline better.

I really want to see Kodi succeed and start this year. He appears to have a lot of raw talent and CGM has proven at Tulsa that he can develop a QB. If he can play in this system hopefully he will develop into a leader. Thats one thing that Brandon did. He was a good leader. No where near the best athlete though.
