Auburn Scoring Pct

I'm always searching for the "magical" stat that points to a sure thing when it comes to Auburn football.

Since the SEC expanded to 12 teams in 1992, Auburn's offense has scored on 33.0% of it's offensive possessions. I broke down each season, comparing AU's record when scoring on at least 33% of it's offensive possessions.

Year Tot Gms Pct W L T

1992 5 11 45.5% 4 0 1

1993 7 11 63.6% 7 0 0

1994 7 11 63.6% 7 0 0

1995 9 11 81.8% 7 2 0

1996 7 11 63.6% 6 1 0

1997 6 12 50.0% 6 0 0

1998 1 11 9.1% 1 0 0

1999 2 11 18.2% 2 0 0

2000 6 12 50.0% 6 0 0

2001 4 11 36.4% 4 0 0

2002 6 13 46.2% 6 0 0

2003 8 13 61.5% 7 1 0

2004 11 13 84.6% 11 0 0

2005 6 12 50.0% 6 0 0

2006 8 13 61.5% 8 0 0

2007 5 13 38.5% 4 1 0

2008 2 12 16.7% 2 0 0

Over the past 17 seasons, Auburn has averaged 5.8 games per season, where they scored at least 33% of the time on offense (FG's and TD's).

* Auburn is 94-5-1 from 1992-2008, when they reach the 33% mark.

* 56-2-0 under Tommy Tuberville

Of all the stats to focus on, I always look at those regarding scoring or scoring allowed. Yardage is nice but the true "value" of a team comes down to how often you score and how often you prevent the opponent from scoring.
