Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen quietly got married in a small, private ceremony in Santa Monica, Calif. on Thursday, sources tell PEOPLE.

The New England Patriots quarterback and the Brazilian supermodel wed just before 6 p.m. at St. Monica's church, less than a mile from the beach. Brady's 1 ½ son, John Edward Thomas, was present at the wedding.

They followed the wedding with a small gathering at their Brentwood home.

Brady, 31, and Bündchen, 28, got engaged last month. "He asked and she accepted," a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time.

The is the first marriage for both.

Reps for Brady and Bündchen could not be reached for comment.

Tom Brady is indeed a football player & Giselle is certainly easy on the eyes, no question. However, they have nothing to do with AU football. Also ... you cited a People magazine article ( ) which, if it isn't a bannable offense on this board now, it really should be in the future. First offenses are exusable.

Tom Brady creeps me out for some reason. I am sure giselle is fine as all get out when the pics are doctored and her body is hot no doubt, but this picture of her does nothing for me. Way too mr.edish. Obviously, the make up and air brush are big friends of hers.

I just think supermodels are over rated. I'd take some average all american girl like this over giselle anyday , money not being considered as a factor, lol.)

I think I would take any women that is a supermodel, all-american, or just pretty in general
