But why is every other path of action automatically the right thing to do? Why is it that JUST because they are doing "something"...is it absolved from any scrutiny, and automatically assumed to be perfect? After 8 years of criticizing Bush at every turn, and talking about how objective and non-partisan you all are...our resident democrats really have let me down with the lack of scrutiny they are giving their Congress and President in Washington. The fact that Obama is using the current economic situation to shove a ton of pork down America's throat goes beyond disingenuous. It's deceitful. The fact that you all don't have even the SLIGHTEST objection to ANY of the bloated pet projects that are being covered (all under the name of economic life-saving), has me floored. Are you really that partisan, that no democrat can do wrong in your eyes? Is there nothing that you disagree with your party leaders on? Surely you can admit that ideally there would have been plan that was devised with input from ANYONE that would result in what may be considered best for the country. I know, your side won the election and has proven that all it takes to get things passed is buy off 2-3 republican senators. Then you can advance your agenda without considering what is best for the country. Obama had the chance to develop a bi-partisan plan from the beginning and he chose not to. I keep hoping he will prove me wrong...so far it has not happened. It looks like experience still matters. autiger4life 3 Posted March 1, 2009 Share Posted March 1, 2009 I have said several times that I am not for the stimulus and all this extra spending. So my plan is more self-correction. Here is a good example to me: Since Wal-mart has come into the grocery market Winn-Dixie lost 46% market share of what they had, Bruno's and other regionals also lost a good bit. With that, the grocery market became very crowded. Now with the recession Bruno's will be forced out of business and the market will correct itself. I hate it for Bruno's and the employees of Bruno's but that is business and if we just give more money to them to keep them in business then we will continue to hurt the market long term. Same thing happened with Circuit City. Upper management made some horrible decisions but with the economy they were able to stay in with Wal-mart Best Buy, Tweeter(who also made horrible decisions) and others. With the bad economy CC was pushed out and good business practices are rewarded. This is just on a bigger scale. So as me the democrat, I am not for the stimulus. But smoking a cigs, while potentially harmful, is at least doing something...so we should all support smoking cigs. Your failure to do anything but constantly spew the same tired knee-jerk answer tells me you aren't willing to engage in a real debate about the issues. And you are fairly certain that democrats are incapable of making any errors in judgement ever. The republicans TRIED to have input in the process, but were shut out. The republicans BEGGED for Obama to not cut Capital Gains taxes, not pursue Cap & Trade, cut Payroll taxes, and basically give back to American workers. THATS A PLAN. So stop lying and saying they wanted to do nothing. It's decietful to suggest they had no plan, and wanted to not contribute, when they were shut out of the process. In the middle of a recession, Obama wants to tax Cigs (regressive), Cap & Trade (regressive and global warming is fake), TAX CAPITAL GAINS (bye bye venture capital to fund small biz), and increase taxes on small business owners (bye bye job creation). That's doing something, but that doesn't mean it's right. Please, I'm begging you, start arguing the merits of Obama & the Democrats plans instead of constantly turning it around to the republicans. It makes you come off as petty and stubborn. I'm honestly trying to see where this stimulus can help...and the only thing I get out of you is a canned line that didn't work the first time. Get Uncle Sam's hands out of my pockets. I'm still working on #4. BTW, times couldn't be that bad - I see jets flying over everyday.
