Hotel review after recent stay in Nashville

The wife and I just got back from a weekend in Nashville to celebrate her last birthday in her 20s. Since she is Red Wings fan and they were playing against the Predators this weekend also, we caught the game Saturday night. It was her first NHL game and she had fun except for the fact that the Red Wings got beat 8-0. I enjoyed it because I am an Avalanche fan, so anytime I can watch the Red Wings get beat, especially get pummeled by a team they should have been able to beat in their sleep, is a good day for me.

We stayed at the Hotel Preston (hotel website) and I was very impressed. We usually stay at a Red Roof Inn everywhere we go because I am part of a program that earns points and free stays with them. However, the Red Roof in Nashville was going to cost us nearly $100 a night, so my wife started looking around and then a fan recommended the Hotel Preston. They happened to be offering an internet booking special of 20% off any booking. So, for the same price, we were going to be able to get a room with a king size bed and all the features we normally get when we reserve a king size executive room at the Red Roof. All the pictures of the rooms looked nice and unlike the Red Roof Inns, the Hotel Preston has a restaurant and a lounge with live entertainment on the weekends. The reviews were mostly good, so we gave it a shot.

We had a flat screen TV in our room. Unfortunately, they had just started putting those in the rooms, so there was no HD programming yet, but they are working on that. The bed had 5 pillows on it and had a cushioned head board on the wall. We also had a lounger and an executive desk in the room. The room also came with robes, coffee pot, various flavored coffees and teas, and wireless internet. The wireless had a daily fee of $8.95, which was my only complaint because some hotels offer free access during your stay. Still, signing up was simple because once my laptop found the wireless connection, my browser came up with the sign up page and I could bill it to the room, which was very easy and convenient. 24 hour room service is available and since you have to be 21 to check on there, you can have wine, beer, or mixed drinks sent up to the room. Like most room service though, it is a bit pricey.

You also can ask for some free extras such as a pet fish, a selection of plants, laval lamp, books, CDs, art supplies for the kdis etc. It is also a pet friendly hotel. For $5 you can get milk and cookies sent up to the room or a romantic package of chocolate covered strawberries, wine of champagne, bubble bath, and scented candles, along with in room spa services for your wife or you guys that like that stuff also. The rooms are all inside entrances and you have to use your room key to activate the elevator, so security is very good.

My wife and I had not been to Nasville in over 10 years and found a lot of things we could do if we had more time, so we plan on going back. We had an excellent stay at the Hotel Preston and it had a four star atmosphere and service for a two star hotel price. We probably will make the Hotel Preston the place we stay at for now on when in Nashville.

I checked out the hotel website and their packages and ran across this:

"I Do. I Did. I’m Done.

With nearly 50% of all marriages ending in divorce, the Preston wants to help make a tough time a bit easier. With overnight accommodations, free parking, conference room for mediation, separate rooms on opposite ends of the hotel, added deposit for potential damage, one hour consultation with a family lawyer of your choice and Ooey Gooey Love package can be added for one last good time."

Wow...

Well, I detest the red wings as much as you do. lol. I'm a flyers fan. I will definitely keep this in mind should I ever venture up that way. Sounds like a great place to stay. Thanks for the review.

Wow...

Yeah, I saw that also. I guess if you are going to call it quits, you might as well try to make a nice weekend out of it.

I've actually stayed in this same hotel about 2 years back. I was pleased with what I got. I was there for the weekend and had a gorgeous view overlooking downtown Nashville. We even had a nice fireworks show. You could tell the hotel was a renovation from an older hotel and it shows its age in some places. However the service was better and the accomodations better than many four star hotels for much less per night.
