Andre Ware AU 2011 Prediction

Auburn has a tradition of having big "rebuilding" years - 1972 and 1986 immediately come to mind.

We also went 9-2 regular season (7-1 in the SEC) in 2005 after losing FOUR 1st round draft choices...and only an overtime loss to LSU after five missed FG's kept us out of Atlanta.

Utah State, Florida Atlantic and Samford are obvious wins.

The rest of schedule is:

Mississippi State- this one will be a tough one. State looked very good to end the year.

@ Clemson- Just not worried about this one too much. Unless the offense just completely falls apart I think we still come out of there with a win.

@ USCjr- This will be a very, very tough game. We will be in their house and they will be out for blood after the Atlanta beatdown. This game scares me

@ Arkansas- I want to say Mallett leaving renders them weak but we made their damn back-up look like a Heisman candidate. This game will depend on how the secondary matures.

Florida- New coach and they're coming to our house. The crowd will be amped to get at Muschamp after he bailed so the stadium will be electric. They had a ton of problems this year. The players will be going from Meyer/Mullen's spread system to a more pro style system under Weiss so there will be some growing pains.

@ LSU- No way around it, this will be a tough, tough game. Les is back. Jefferson built more confidence and they have a stable of RBs and always have big receivers. This is another scary game.

Ole Miss- I just don't see this being a game.

@ UGA- I think we beat them as well. It'll be tough after the way this year's game ended and the rivalry but I think we got em.

Bama- They will have a stout defense but a retooled offense. The losses of Ingram, Julio and McElroy will be tough to overcome no matter how you look at it. This may end up being a slug fest of a game.

So, I look at this schedule and see five probable wins and the rest we will actually have to fight for. We will drop one we shouldn't, most likely, but we will have a good season. I'm figuring probably 9-10 wins. That is assuming that the three actual new starters we'll have on the o-line are good when they get plugged in and that Trotter isn't just terrible at QB. He has a bit of foot speed about him so he presents a bit of a challenge in that they'll have to defend the pass but he can pick up a few yards with his feet if need be.

I'm more looking forward to 2012 than next year.

Aubun 5-7 at best possibly 4-8

Even the realist in me sees that as being ridiculous.

Looking at the talent we have coming back, although untested, I think these coaches and this system will prove to be more formidable than most think.

Not declaring a repeat, but look at our OL this year. We lost 3 prospected starters / back ups ( Gayden, Greene , Coleman ) and still had 1 of the top OL's in the nation. Sure, we lose much of it to graduation, but Greene should be back, as well as some impressive talent. I think after LSU and Arky, it's anyone's race in the West.

Well, not Ole Miss.

Everybody ... it's January. That is all.

Yea scrooge it is january but we can look forward if we want

Relax. Few people take pre-season predictions seriously, even the ones made during the summer. The ones made in January or even December (I saw one writer attempting next year's prediction in mid-December) are ridiculous taken at face value. Andre Ware's prediction is, well ... made in January.

Andre Ware's prediction is, well ... made in January by Andre Ware, therefore rendering its argument invalid immediately.

Fixed that for ya. ;)

I don't mind them dumbing down expectations, that just makes Auburn look better when they exceed them, at least it's better than not meeting high expectations. Look at UGA and UF this year, you never really know how the other teams in the league are going to do and that has a lot to do with our record. Both those teams had a lot of talent but just couldn't get it going. We do have a lot of good chemistry going for us though, which is something UGA and UF seemed to be missing this year.

Plus, nobody ever really knows how good a team is going to be this early. I think a lot of Auburn's success with rest on how well we develop our new O-line and D-line. If we can get those squared away early in the spring I think we will do well. I'm excited for next season but I'm not delusional, we are losing a lot of players especially at the line of scrimmage. I think it could be possible for us to win 9-10 games next season. Regardless, it will be fun to watch these young guys come along. I am really excited for 2 years from now

Also Florida and UGA had staff changes. With Grimes coming back and having the same staff for another year will certainly help how the development of the players go. I think guys like Egua, Lemonier, etc... will step up next year. I'm realistic and think we'll probably go 8-4 but if the team can gel and have chemistry then 10 wins is certainly possible.

A lot of these so called "experts" at ESPN aren't really that great at predictions. Even though Herbstreit picked Auburn to win the West in 2010, he picked Florida to win the SEC and we saw how that turned out.
