With Cam now in the NFL draft being hindsight, are you glad he declared for the draft? Or would you had rather him stay for a repeat. He brought Auburn football to another level of excitement this year, but did have the off-field stuff going on? (even though it wasnt his fault)

Did you thank him for another Heisman and Championship, but say to much other stuff makes me nervous about next year, go do your best in the NFL!

OR

Did you wish he'd come back and help AU do it all over again - who cares what the media tries to dig up!

Would have liked to have him return for his leadership qualities, and ability to show Kiehl Frazier the ropes of what it takes to be a successful dual threat QB in the SEC.

Then on the other hand, we won't have to hear about "Camgate" all year long with him departing. We'll probably still hear about it, but not to the extent we would have if he were to return to AU.

Guess we can't have our cake and eat it too, as they say.

I will never be happy when the best player in the history of college football leaves our team. Never.

Sure, there are some things that we can point to as a silver lining, but its never good to lose a player like that.

Let me ask you this - do you think other fanbases wished that Cam stayed? NO. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Yes, I wanted him to stay but for purely selfish reasons -- with him in the game, AU always has a good-to-great chance at winning.

The real question that needs to be asked is: Should he stay? Then my answer is an emphatic no. In one short year, he's accomplished everything a football player could dream of: conference & national championships, undefeated season and individual awards like the Heisman, Maxwell, Walter Camp & Davy O'brian awards, not to mention AP Player of the Year and All American. With a year like that, what could he possibly do for an encore? He's proven he's the best at the collegiate level. Now the logical thing is to move up to the challenge of the NFL level. Thanks for the memories, Cam. God speed & good luck to you. WDE

I'm so close to 50/50 on the issue that I can't vote with any good conscience. Wish we had another year of his magic. Hope he makes some NFL team (Titans, please!) as happy as Auburn has been this year.

Let's just hope we don't live so long that we never see his like again. Superstar with some charisma. Rare blend. Rare person. He will be missed, for sure.

There you have it. I didn't vote because I don't have an answer for the question as posed. By far the best thing for Cam, personally, was to turn pro, for the reasons stated by AUloggerhead. I guess I'll become a fan of whatever NFL team gets Cam Newton. Give 'em hell, Cam!

How anyone except our opponents could be glad one the best players in history isn't coming back escapes me.

One of a long list of things that escapes you. I don't know if I'd say I'm happy he's gone, but I do see him leaving as almost perfect in a way. He would almost definitely not have as good of a season next year with the new o-line.

Look at Mcelroy. He had a 10-3 season (damn good in the SEC) that looked like a disappointment to a lot of folks after his BCSC junior year.

Cam had a perfect season and that perfect season is how he will always be remembered. He had little or nothing to gain his senior year.

Daddy gave AU too much heat, regardless of what the NCAA said about the matter.

Auburn is bigger than any of us.

Auburn is bigger than all of us.

I voted, "no." It's been great, but it's obvious that the Cam Newton Situation will not go away until Cecil Newton is gone. I want to believe AU was innocent and I will maintain that it's true until actual evidence is presented, but it makes me super nervous having reporters and the letters NCAA associated with our program. Don't take this as a doom and gloom post, just an uncertainty that comes with the snooping.

Now on the football side of things, you DON'T replace a Cam Newton easily. That said, I am excited about what Barrett Trotter can do. While it would be better for a new O line to cut their teeth with a veteran behind them, it's probably best that these young guys don't get bailed out and learn real pocket protection.

Tough love, I guess.

There is not an option for me in this poll.

I would love for Cam to back, but since he has decided to go pro (and I don’t blame him for doing so), I wish him the same success at the next level.

I have a second part to this question too, now that Cam was only at AU for one year....

Forgive me if my memory is incorrect, but would you say the last Juco transfer that had this much 1 year impact on Auburn was Rudi Johnson? Does Rudi come back to Auburn much, support AU, or even reference AU much? I dont think he has much to do with Auburn. Now he didnt win a Heisman or NC for AU, but was a centerpiece to our 2000 team and helping AU get over the Bowden era.

Do you think Cam will make more of an effort to be around Auburn and a vocal supporter for the school? Come back to some of the games, hang out with new players when not busy with the NFL? Will Cam stay an Auburn man and be involved?

I hope he does...even if he was just here for a year. All kind of a whirlwind looking back.

Yes, it was quite a whirlwind with Cam. He obviously did great, fantastic things for the program, but it was a little weird that our biggest star was a JUCO guy who was only here for one year. Usually we watch the guys grow, see them get those first few reps as freshman or sophomores then bloom into stars. With Cam it all happened in one year/season.

Because of the short time he was at Auburn, I also wonder if he will end up like Rudi, who really doesn't seem to be around very much. Cam really seemed to enjoy being here and had a special relationship with the fans, so I hope that he remains invested in Auburn and comes back often. Who knows if he would have found the same success as another school. I know we would not have been as good this year without him, so it really seemed to work out for both Cam and Auburn.

I think Cam will be back as often as he is able. Just see him as a different member of the Auburn Family.
