I love that picture! It was a full page picture in the Hunstville Times after the game, and you can order those prints as well.

I will be purchasing a copy to have Kodi sign when he comes for his appearance.

That is my ultimate goal. But since I live in Daphne (Mobile Bay Area), I can't make it to his upcoming autograph session. Hopefully at some point I'll run into him, and have the picture with me.

I would highly suggest calling USA Sports here in Huntsville. They are hosting the signing. They may let you buy a sig but mail them your pic. It isn't unheard of

Thanks!

I just shot them an email to see if I can get it without the "Perfect" written on it.

Even though it was a perfect moment!

That picture gets me every time I see it, this group of seniors will be sorely missed, and Kodi in particular is someone I'll always remember as an Auburn man, through thick and thin, even when fans were booing him and he had an assortment of village idiots as offensive coordinators he kept on, and did his best to do what he could to help the team. It was only fitting that he scored a receiving TD in the championship game, and sealed his name to be forever linked to what it means to be an Auburn man.

Kodi Burns the difference for Auburn in BCS game

By Brian Harbach

This season was special for Auburn, an SEC Championship, a Heisman Trophy winner, a Lombardi Award winner and a National Championship. People will remember Nick Fairly and Cam Newton, they will talk about Mike Dyer’s amazing run, Darvin Adams catching a “Hail Mary” and Gus Malzahn making offensive adjustments that changed Auburn’s fate but there is one man that I will remember above all of these and that is Kodi Burns.

I truly believe that the success Auburn had this year could not have been possible without Burns and while Kodi didn’t get to win Championships for Auburn as the quarterback he envisioned being when he came to Auburn…his contribution was equally important.

Four years ago Kodi came to Auburn as a highly ranked quarterback from Arkansas; Scout.com had Burns listed as a Five-Star quarterback (#5 in the nation) from Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He played as a true freshman for then HC Tommy Tuberville and former OC Al Borges. He started at quarterback in his fourth game against New Mexico State and while he was moved back to second string the next week in Auburn’s upset victory over National Champion Florida in the Swamp…he was the future.

When Al Borges was fired in December of 2007 and Tony Franklin was hired the Auburn fans got to see what the future of their offense would be with Burns and Franklin. A pedestrian Auburn offense in 2007 racked up a season high yards against Clemson in the Peach Bowl as Burns punched in the game winning touchdown in overtime. Burns had cemented himself as the Auburn quarterback; that play was his exclamation point and 2008 was his time to lead Auburn. But it didn’t turn out that way for Burns that season.

In February of 2008 Auburn signed Franklin protégé quarterback Chris Todd and the coaching staff bungled the competition from the start. The coaches refused to name a starter, splitting the team and turning the situation into a nightmare for Auburn fans, players and coaches. No player was to blame in this situation…Chris Todd was a true Auburn man for fighting through injuries and playing hurt. Burns was neglected by the coaches and was never put in a position to succeed with his skill set. Auburn forced the square Burns into the round hole of an offense they were running.

After the season was turnover…Franklin was already gone but Tuberville was pressured to make changes and it was obvious he was tired of Auburn and Auburn was tired of him so Tuberville moved on. Gene Chizik and Gus Malzahn were brought in and once again Kodi Burns was fighting for the starting job as Chris Todd recovered from shoulder surgery in the winter of 2009 missing spring practice. That August Todd came back healthier than he had been in years and won the starting job…Burns was asked to move to receiver.

Now Burns could have done a hundred things…he could have walked out, he could have transferred, he could have demanded to stay at Quarterback but after seeing what Auburn went through the previous year as a divided team he decided to talk. He addressed the team and asked everyone to get behind Todd; he took his transition to receiver as a challenge and worked hard. His unselfishness allowed Auburn to move on as a team and Auburn finished 2009 8-5 with a win over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The behavior that Burns showed by giving that speech and has shown every day since epitomizes what an Auburn man is. His sacrifice for the betterment of the team was not the easy thing to do, but the right thing is never easy. Burns never turned into an elite receiver at Auburn, but he was an elite teammate. His numbers weren’t flashy…in two years he caught 17 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 185 yards and six scores from the Wildcat formation.

He contributed to every game he played, even if he wasn’t touching the ball he was an aggressive blocker and a leader on the sidelines. When Burns signed his letter of intent over four years ago he never thought the touchdown he would score helping Auburn win a National Championship game would have been at receiver, but that was his path. Burns is a great example to all of us and how even if things don’t happen as we expect, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a better path for us to take.

Every player is important when a team wins a Championship but without Burns’ speech Auburn would not be where they are today. Without Burns’ block on Onterio McCalebb’s 70 yard TD run against LSU maybe Auburn loses that game. Without Burns’ 35 yards catch and run into the end zone against Oregon maybe the Championship game changes. Without men like Kodi Burns teams can’t be Champions and that is why Kodi Burns will always have a special place in the hearts of the Auburn family.

Thanks for the info.

BTW, they interviewed Kodi tonight on the ESPN telecast of the Auburn-Florida basketball game.

I don't think its fair to James Naismith to call that a basketball game.

What other TDs did Kodi catch? I thought it was just the one in the NC game.

Kodi is a true Auburn man and I love that this picture was taken. He wasn't the best or most popular player the last 4 years, but he will never be forgotten.
