Proud Tiger 4,261
It's almost time to head to JHS. It's been a long time since 1957 but I was there then for the celebration. Was anyone else? To say the least, the stadium has changed a bit since then.

To say the least, the stadium has changed a bit since then. I saw several of the games that year, can't remember which ones. If there was a celebration like today's I don't think I was there for it. I just remember reading that the poll had us #1 one day. I don't remember any event like today's! The crowd was amazing. The team looked great. The speeches were inspirational and moving. I want to watch the whole things again! How soon before we get a shot at a DVD of the thing? How soon before YouTube clips? I can't wait until September! Great year and celebration PT and with the crowd size we were probably close.

Major respect. For the record, my Dad was 2 years old in 1957. I wasn't due until 1984. War Damn Eagle to you, sir.

It's too long to bore people here with it. I was a sportswriter for The Plainsman that year and covered all the games. I have a scrapbook of all my articles along with ticket stubs. It was in the Athletic Museum for awhile. I knew all the players and coaches well. Lloyd Nix and I were especially close then and still see each other ocassionally. He and I sold senior class rings our senior year to make a little extra money. I asked him awhile back how many of today's QBs he thought might sell class rings. He just smiled. We finished #1 in the AP Poll and someone from AP was there and presented the trophy to Coach Jordan. I don't know how many people were there but it was a good crowd and remember we probably had less than 6000 students then.

I had tears in my eyes most of today's ceremony. To all you younger ones, there is an appropriate song for today... "Memories.".......memories are made of this. BeasFan 3
Sept. 3 vs Utah State. Do you know how close to official this is? I saw http://www.auburnfansite.com/gamepreview.asp?gameid=85403 and wondered if things have been changed or if they never were official to begin with. Until I saw the TSU reference I have been taking http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-11/sec/2011-auburn-tigers-football-schedule.php as the one to believe. Now I'm confused. Who has the real schedule for 2011?

It would be terrible for Utah State to find out they weren't really supposed to be here -- somewhere around Memphis.
