"People ask me all the time, why did you come to Auburn?" Burns said. "One, because of this awesome Auburn family. And two, to win a national championship.

"It's been an unbelievable year, one I'll remember for the rest of my life."

Burns continue to win the hearts of Auburn fans. This guy is a Champ.

Mayor Bill Ham's accent made me laugh.

Chizik's end ROCKED. It was not just the choice of words, but the delivery. Firm, focused, and forceful.

David Housel's speech is one I want to hear again. And Lloyd Nix's, too.

I think I saw somewhere that CSS would play the NC celebration on Tuesday night. Not sure what time.

I realize that I am a voice in the wilderness for saying what I am going to say and I will probably get flamed, but to all the folks, including Chizik, you embarrass AU when you insert Damn in between War and Eagle. How many years will pass before Damn is replaced with F'ing?

OK, flame away.

How is that an embarrassment? It has been damn as long as I've been alive; I'm 29. I'm sure it existed before that. If it were going to change I'm sure it would have already. To most it conveys passion and emphasis.

Not flaming, just saying I am not in your camp.

As a conservative baptist preacher.... I loved it! War Damn Eagle. Show me a list of disapproved words in the Book and I will change my stance! :-)

I guess you never liked BUCK FAMA either?

You guys don't get it and I will not be able to show you the error of you thinking. I will , however, like to encourage the Baptist preacher to start closing his public prayers with Amen, Damnit. Ummm, didn't think you would.

Hate to say it, but I only heard about 1/2 of what was said. Sitting in the upper stands, the sound really wasn't too good up there.

That, and the array of kiddies behind us, well, being kids. Not annoyed, just wish the sound was better up there, is all.

Hope to get the DVD of that , for sure. Who ever was doing the camera work ....

There were some excellent shots , one in particular of the Crystal football in the foreground, and Coach Chizik at the podium. Awesome !

( and Mike4AU .... " Are you serious, Clark ? "

<_<

war DAMN eagle has been around since the early 80's, at least. You asking how long it'll take for ...well, I'm guessing another 30 years ? :gofig: )

I do remember when it was just "War Eagle", my mother wasn't thrilled with it until we beat bama. I believe it was the bear's last year, then I'm sure she said War "DAMN" Eagle that fine day. Me, it doesn't bother me one way or the other. War Eagle or War Damn Eagle, both of 'em sound great to me.

A bit pretentious, are we? The error of our thinking? What we have here are two different opinions. I don't think you're wrong about the WDE, I simply disagree. To each their own and all. To say the several people that responded have an error in our thinking is a touch snobby for my taste.

WDE, my friend.

I am well aware of how long WDE has been around...and, yes, I am serious. Do any of you remember the shock when Clark Gable said "frankly my dear I don't give a damn?" Now using damn in a public setting, like Chizik did today, is common place. I submit that there will come a time when you will hear folks say War F'ing eagle. I submit that if you listen closely you will hear that already at football games. And we already have evidence from a Baptist preacher that since F'ing is not on the list of disapproved words, then it is OK to say it.

Guys, I have a PHD in cussing and can match a sailor anytime. That said, I challenge each of you to have more respect for Auburn than to damn its eagle.

As I said in my initial post, I realize I am a voice in the wilderness. That is OK with me.

wow this is hilarious. No one is Damning anything by saying this. Honestly, you just sound snobby and kinda arrogant. Its been war damn eagle all my life as well and will go no further. The Auburn family has more class than those down the road from us saying R mfing T. Understand you have a different oppinion but oing as far as you have makes it look even worse. If you dont like it, dont say it. But oppinions are like buttholes everyone has one... Do you also not like our fight song saying give em hell?

WDE is in the bodegetta cheer. How long has that cheer been around?

My dad says it was around in '76 when he enrolled. I know it was around in '91 when I went to my first game. :cheer:

My dad went to Auburn in the 60's. War Damn Eagle was said then and before. I want to Auburn in the early 90's. We used to scream War Effing Eagle all of the time. I think you might be a bit sheltered or something.
