I'll still never understand how he surged to the top of the Republican ticket. He's quickly making me appreciate Riley...

As for the infamous comment, :puke: but ... I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he works to live up to his professed goal of being "the Governor of all Alabamians."

However, there is certainly many red flags already. :sigh:

I think the infamous comment came more from a misunderstanding and a disconnect between more secular folks and language employed by Christians. The term "brother/sister in Christ" is an expression used to refer to fellow believers in Jesus Christ. Sometimes when amongst what you believe to be only other believers, the term gets shortened to "brother" or "sister" with the "in Christ" part being understood by the audience. He wasn't saying that other people aren't his brother or sister in the "brotherhood of humanity" sense of the word, just in the "shared faith in Christ" sense.

That said, he needs to be more cognizant of how certain terms can be easily misunderstood. He's not just at this church anymore, he's the governor of a diverse state. You need to make sure your intentions are clear by the words you choose.

Exactly. Especially considering his comments came a mere hour after his inauguration speech, which appropriately sounded a tone of inclusiveness.

Two things:

1. The war between he and James turned many off on him, allowing the high number of

2. Dems that voted in the Republican runoff to swing the vote.

The context of Bentley's statement is being removed or spun by the media. It wasn't the smartest move politically on his part, for the reason's Titan stated, but the ones, if any, outraged by this are reaching. I can't walk around upset because Muslims, Hindus, or whoever don't hold me on equal footing as themselves in front of their god.

Now, his little show at JHS was a farce. Over 80,000 people there knew he had on some crimson underwear.
