Bammer Poisons Toomer Trees

I read on another board that a bammer called in to Finebaum and said he had poisoned the trees at Toomer's Corner. Supposedly the Ag Dept. has confirmed this and says there could be some lasting impact to the trees. I can't confirm this, can nayone?

If true there is going to be hell to pay in Tuscalooser.

If this is true the dude needs to be punished to the full extent of the law and then beat with a cane pole. That's terrible I hope it is not true. Just a disclaimer: This Bama fan had nothing to do with it!

Yeah, I would think if the guy called into a talk show they could track down who it was. Then they should prosecute him and put him in jail in Lee County.

Too civil!

If true, despicable behavior. And then to call Finebaum and brag about it. Things that make you shake your head.

You could spray air freshener across the whole city... they might not like it if you change the smell in that ****hole.

If true, it would take years for the trees to die. They are so big even something powerful like Spike (what he said he used) would take forever to travel through the whole tree.

Good news is that our Ag dept is top drawer and will know what to do (if there is anything that can be done). Also, we've been growing trees from the acorns of the Toomers trees for decades so we'd have a replacement (though it would obviously be smaller).

Solution? Sic the EPA on Bama fans. How many of them will be able to afford their trailers once the EPA does full impact studies on them?

Also, cost/impact wise, eye for an eye would involve what? Blowtorches and that Bear statue? Perhaps the Auburn family could all pitch in and buy the companies that manufacture houndstooth fabric, then cancel the line?

I WAS..again WAS lisening to Paul everyday but since football is over he is back to his love fest with bammers and still crying about Bear..anyway for some stupid reason  I flip over there yesterday on my way home and heard the call. The guys said he did it because Auburn student's rolled Toomer's the day Bear died(which is not at all true, because some one took a picture with the Bear statue wearing a Cam jersey and he thought that it was stupid that we wasted city money to pay people to clean up the trees after we littered them then he talked about the stuff he put on them and that it would kill them over time. The guy was a NUT job..worse than Jim from crestwood or Shane from well either one of the Shane's which i did not think was possible.

I really doubt the guy was smart enough to pull something like this off...I mean A REAL NUT JOB!!!

Even if he did the Ag Dept down there is the BEST.

From reading this thread, the guy would be too stupid to read the herbicide label. He wouldn't understand how to apply the stuff and he couldn't afford Spike anyway. I doubt there is anything to worry about here.

However, the trees are doing poorly anyway, too much concrete and not enough open dirt around them. It's been a problem for some time. Auburn's forestry department is top-notch but some things in nature simply can't be done regardless of knowledge and understanding of the problem. Hopefully they will come up with a solution.

ok- I have an idea(it made me laugh on the inside)

Anyone still got ole T. Evans number?? We call him and claim to be the guy that poisioned the trees tell him to meet us in bham some where(legand field maybe) that we have inside info then we call the tree guy tell him we are T. Evans and want an inside scope on the rolling of Toomer's the day bear died and the miss use of city funds for cleaning up the trees..

and we meet them with gym socks and soap..who's game??

I was just wondering...has anyone in authority checked this out? I mean if this guy actually did this it's destruction of state property and therefore the admission of guilt should be investigated. Shouldn't the police actually get the guys number from the radio station and look him up?

I heard about this yesterday too! Disgusting if true, and his reasons behind it are pathetic. So did Auburn fans roll Toomers after the Bear died or not? That was before my time, I was a wee one then and don't remember. Yet I have a Bammer who loves to point out that we rolled the trees when the Bahr died as our lack of class. Someone help me out, cause I'd love to proove them wrong.

Well, if true, let's all try to stay calm and classy.

MOST Bama fans would not commit public vandalism or kill Toomer's trees. MOST Auburn fans would not roll Toomer's on the day Bear died.

Those that would are the exception rather than the rule, so let's chalk it up to a few idiots and not make the rivalry more bitter/angry/violent than it already is.

JMHO.

I read over on AUC from people who were attending Auburn at the time, that rolling Toomer's when the bahr died is false.

"So did Auburn fans roll Toomers after the Bear died or not?"

Absolutely not. I was a sophomore @ Auburn when Bryant died and as hard as it may for youngsters now to believe, there was something called respect back then and the entire Auburn campus seemed like it went into mourning. Many auburn fans & students in particular loaded into cars to drive to one of the routes the hearse would take to pay respects to a great Alabamian.

Anything different is rewriting history and outright lies and if a criminal psychoptath really poisoned these trees they need the guidance of some law enforcement.
